Just commenting about Fab in another thread. He is the linchpin in our midfield. For me, he is the key to unlocking the full abilities of both Thiago and Hendo. You can see that both Hendo and Thiago have been able to push further forward and actually get shots on goal because they know that Fabinho is protecting the deep areas. Hendo loves to burst forward and if Thiago gets possession he can dictate games & Fab allows that to happen. That's obviously not taking away from the work rate of both Hendo and Thiago as both work really hard too but from a defensive point of view Fab just has it.
January is key for us to get a player in the same mould as Fab just incase he picks up an injury, I really hope we don't rest on our laurels. Another ball playing/goal scoring CM would be absolutely lovely too. We are in such a good position at the moment and when everyone is fit (no jinx please) we look sensational. IMO i just think January is such a perfect time for us to cover all bases for the 2 nd half of the season. With this squad and a few more additions, we genuinely could be challenging on multiple fronts and would be able to rotate likes of what City and Chelsea can without as much compromise as we previously have had.Last edited by danperkins; 09-12-21, 12:26 PM.

I don't think we will sign anyone in Jan to be honest - unless it is a player that is part of the long term plan anyway (Adeyemi or someone like that perhaps)Originally posted by danperkins View PostJust commenting about Fab in another thread. Midfielders are Fabinho, Hendo, Thiago, Milner, Keita, Oxlade, Elliot and now Morton too. Don't think we will add to that in Jan

So where does that leave young emerging talent like Tyler Morton? I honestly can not see us buying a ready to play midfielder in January. You could make a case for a striker if we’re losing 2 of our star strikers to AFCON but even that would be difficult.Originally posted by danperkins View PostJust commenting about Fab in another thread. Honestly, when i first saw Morton a few games back, i sorta saw him as an understudy to Fab (and if not, i reckon he should be learning as much from Fab as possible), even though some pundits were describing him like the next stevie... i reckon he should be bled into the midfield, he has got so much potential in that DM/roving CM (and we are stacked there)...if anything, we should be getting a deep cover RB. Neco, while he has his bright moments, is not at the standard rotation level for our club (not at the moment nor do i see at least for this season)...Originally posted by SB View Post

I think both Morton & Neco have futures with us. I think Klopp gives Neco license to get forward which of course weakens us defensively but that’s how we play. A change in manager in a few years could mean a change of tactics & in turn a change in personnel but only time will tell.Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.
