If anyone thinks that chance was easy then theyve never played football and only watched it on tv or played it on the computer That ball came to him fast, somewhat unexpectedly, on his wrong side and at a tight angle. He killed it dead and then shot in a split second, not sure what more he can do TBH other than attempt a cross body volley on his wrong foot that he'd probably shank into the stands 9/10 times. It was an incredible piece of recovery defending to block it. Sometimes you just have to give credit where its due and in this case its to Rodri.
    100%

I don't have even buy that a striker would have met it first time either as it came to him on the wrong side.

It was a great recovery tackle and certainly not a miss.

If you want to be hyper critical then Fab should have tried lifting the shot but for me its just a tremendous clearance.

The still does him no favours - it's painful to look at - but yeah. It just incredible defending.

Great defending but also a really bad miss imo.

His weight distribution is all over the place, didn’t need to let it bounce and when he did hit it he was still off balance and his foot scuffed the floor as he struck it.
          It’s not a miss though

If a striker hits a ball into the top corner but the keeper makes a world class save, would you say the striker missed?

It was a missed opportunity, I think you’re splitting hairs.

I’m not saying he should be scoring it every time or anything daft like that, the tackle was insanely good and is basically peak VVD.

Was just a freak fumbling under pressure of a big game, could have happened to anyone, but whoever is is that position I think scores that more times than doesn’t, including fab.

You can see best from the angle behind the goal. Knows Rodri is incoming and then scuffs the floor as he shoots. Clean hit and it’s in the net, there is literally milliseconds in it but I’m standing by this.

He had to control it with his left which left enough time for Rodri to slide in.

Maybe if he'd have lifted it into the top of the net?

The still image going around makes it look like a horrendous miss no doubt.

Maybe your Messi, Suarez, Lewendowski level finishers do that. But to expect a defensive mid who hardly ever steps foot in the box to finish at those levels then its a tad unrealistic no?

Imo he should have hit it fist time. Rodri done great no doubts but the more you look at it, the worse it looks. It's tap in, in an open goal. Anyways done now so no point in me going on about it

It wasn't a tap in at all. Stop looking at still images showing a gaping net and watch the full speed replay.

When Fab watches the footage back he'll be gutted he's not an elite level striker

Yaaa it’s very frustrating… I haven’t watched it back since the game, and I was after a few pints when watching it, but I thought he could have hit it first time. Having said that, if he mi**** it, and it went wide, we’d have been saying he had plenty time shoulda taken a touch.

It's is an open goal, from a few yards out and he is an incredibly talented professional footballer. It was a shocker, it happens

It was an open goal with a ball that had to be brought under control, then kicked. By the time that happened, Rodri's boot was in the way.

                                Sorry but you're talking bollocks.
