I'm not sure who will start on the opening day, I would expect Henderson, Fabinho and Keita to eventually be our first choice midfield. I don't think Henderson will be involved because of his late return from the WC and there is an arguement that you wouldn't want to go straight into the season with 2 out of 3 midfielders having no experience of the PL. Taking this into account I wouldn't be surprised if our midfield starting at West Ham was Milner, Wijnaldum/Lallana and one of Keita/Fabinho with the other coming off the bench in the second half.Originally posted by SB View PostSo you expect Millie to start against WH on day 1?The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

If that's so then Klopp's going about it poorly as he's been very deep in every pre-season game so far.Originally posted by BigChief View PostKlopp's last sentence in that article says it all. Fabinho will need time to adapt it of his old habit of playing too deep like Monaco required.
I think we're looking to make the pitch massive and making space for Keita/Ox/Fekir to break through. Was muß, das muß.

His style of play is generally not that eyecatching to begin with. He tends to do a lot of the groundwork that allows players around him that bit more time to operate in.
Be it through clever interceptions, slowing play down, spotting where a quick ball can be played, or winning tackles.
I think he will be for us just as he was for Monaco. The sort of player that is the glue in the centre and who is only really noticed when he is not in the team to hold things together.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Don't think him dropping deep will be an issue tbh as, when he does it, he tends to look for the ball from the CBs and then he moves it forward quickly.
He also plays the ball forward way more often than he plays it side to side or backwards, and despite playing the ball forward so often he still maintains a high pass accuracy %.
Am not going to compare him in the slightest to Xabi in terms of style of play or passing range, but in terms of being able to influence play from deep and provide a calming effect he very much will show shades of Alonso.
Think what we will see in him is a player who can bring a lot of what Momo Sissoko brought us, but having finesse, passing range and a very tactical style of play to go with that physicality.
I suspect that he may fly under the radar for a little bit whilst the more explosive players catch the eye, but have little doubt that in time Fabinho will be seen as an integral part of what makes the team tick.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

It's an issue insofar as he's not following instruction to play to our style, but he's about 90mins into his career and a spot of training, so its all good. But with three in midfield they're going to need to learn to play with each other over the preseason. Thankfully we've got the two new ones in already to work on.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostDon't think him dropping deep will be an issue tbh as, when he does it, he tends to look for the ball from the CBs and then he moves it forward quickly.

And Klopp has already observed signs of the 24-year-old defensive midfielder needing time to adjust to Liverpool's style of play.
“You have seen it a little bit with Fabinho, that he needs to settle – he’s a little bit too deep between the centre-halves,” said Klopp.
“We do it differently to Monaco. You can push him into position but because it’s natural for him moments later he’s again deep. That shows he needs time to adapt to different styles.”

Wiji is in a similar situation to Hendo that he won’t have a whole lot of game time before we KO at WH.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI'm not sure who will start on the opening day, I would expect Henderson, Fabinho and Keita to eventually be our first choice midfield. Maybe Milly deeper with Lallana & KeitaMe, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

In his post match interview last night, VVD said that Fabinho dropping back 'as a 3rd CB' (interviewers words) is one of the (many) things they work on every day in training. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
