There was another one about his forward passes and final 3rd passes, but can't find it.

Football is stat mad these days

Thats a good one though, though Fabinho's sample size is pretty limited. He certainly played with intent in the tackle and pass. Definitely more progressive on the ball than Hendo.

      Very encouraging full debut.

Lies damn lies and statistics eh

Stats should be used to tell the story as it was removing any bias we have towards players. The other thing with stats is sometimes they don’t stack up - statistically Lovren may have played ‘well’ but what I have seen tells me the opposite

The one thing for sure is for years most of us have been crying out for a DM and if possible a progressive one. Everything I had seen of Fabinho at Monaco suggested he was that type and last night was an indication of how good he can be for us.

Has a bit of the Patrick Viera's about him.

Was good to have a player who just prowled around putting in big tackles as opposed to the little fellas nipping at your ankles like we normally have.

Looked good on the ball also though.

Wanky post alert On the formation it's more a 424 with the front 4 being a diamond than Klopps Dortmund 4231. Its quite narrow and 2 protecting the defence allows both full backs to romp forward. Brighton last season was the blueprint and something we'll definitely do at home to the lesser sides.

I'm not sure about the finishing stats with regard to km's run. However, around 75 mins the km for the teams came up on the screen and RS had outrun us by a couple of km's at that stage (which rarely happens, especially when Milner is playing). **** maybe, but Fab had a team of Forrest G's to contend with

But can Fab do it away from home, on a wet Weds night in Stoke? The eternal question...

I don't like player comparisons but that's not too bad a one.

Well, he'll get tougher tests - that's for sure. Hopefully he can start against Cardiff as well and we can have a look at him against a (marginally) quicker side.

He got caught a few times early on and then grew stronger as the game went on. I still don't think he's ready for the league yet, well not for a big game like arsenal. I can see what he has though and second half of season hopefully he will go into full beast mode.

A couple of loose passes in the first 10 mins (though his passing stats for the night are impressive) when Red Star seemed to be spoiling our gameplan quite effectively.

Other than that he was brilliant.

Loved his game awareness to slot in for Vurj when he went forward. And the sort of cover Fabinho will bring will be crucial when we get big games later on in the season.

Love how Klopp has the balls to spend £40m on a player but leave them out of the team until they know the system and its requirements.

Could this be Klopp's first real flop?

                          ****, no!!!

You just gotta feel Klopp knows exactly how to bed players in.

Klopp is going to have to **** up something at some point.... surely?

He needs to work on Keita because after all the hype and a decent start I've been underwhelmed .

Another way it would be a double six is that both the DMs play in what would be seen as the Number 6 role (box to box DMs of a sort in our case and keeping the passing mostly simple and effective), so a double six in terms of the midfield being made up of a number 10 and two 6s
so the movement of the full backs adds a further two forwards when we are attacking...

Of course! I was trying to think of the player he reminded me of. A little more wiry that Viera but I reckon now he's in, he's in.
