Selling 1 of them will have an impact though and we’ll be back to where we were, unless we have someone within the ranks that can come in and replace them. We all know that Taki doesn’t make a Bobby etc so I’d make all of them happy and replace them slowly over the next few years. I mean, they’re all just 30 so have a few years left for sure.

Yeah, much like Lucas went to a slower league, i think Firmino could benefit by moving on for his final contract.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostThere can't be any doubt now - surely - that he's unequivocally ahead of Firmino. Tbh I think Bobby might go this summer.
It won't be much of a transfer fee but will free up a good £6m off the wage bill for the next gen.

I dont think Bobby is anywhere near his best. He provides very little threat these days. Jota is on another level. He presses and provides danger in the box, and seems to be a bit more mobile. A better choice for the centre position.
I like Firmino, but we have to be honest about the value we are getting. We cannot afford sentimentality if we are to challange City. He has 7 goals and assists in the league, and I think 4 of them came in one game against Watford. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Given that Bobby doesn't play in the Sadio/Mo role, he is only really vying with Jota for a position, so whilst he might be second choice there, he will still get plenty of game time.
Diaz, Mo and Mane will be the wider players and again, it gives us the chance to rest tired legs without a drop-off in quality.
Why are we so keen to sell players the minute we have options?

It’s more that 3 of them are out of contract in 2023. Do all 3 of the famous front 3 get new deals going into their 30s? Do we just get 1 more season out of Mane or Bobby then let them go?Originally posted by Scratch View PostGiven that Bobby doesn't play in the Sadio/Mo role, he is only really vying with Jota for a position, so whilst he might be second choice there, he will still get plenty of game time.

Its a question of resources. Are we getting value from Firminos wages? Could another player coming in do as a good a job or better on a lower wage? Could his wages be rolled into Mo's contract?Originally posted by Scratch View PostWhy are we so keen to sell players the minute we have options? In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

FSG realistically are not going to renew Mane, Salah and Bobby with improved contracts. As Meat said, 2/3 ain't bad.
We also need to think about the future... and thankfully with Jota and Diaz we are much better placed.
Mane and Salah i could see playing to a very high level until 35 (particularly Salah) so we could very well keep them both.

Bobby doesn't play out wide but both Mane and Salah can play through the middle.Originally posted by Scratch View PostGiven that Bobby doesn't play in the Sadio/Mo role, he is only really vying with Jota for a position, so whilst he might be second choice there, he will still get plenty of game time.

Could easily see a front three of Diaz - Salah - Mane doing a team major damage. Or Jota - Mane - Salah...James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

He was ahead of Firmino for me over the last 18 months but I kept getting lambasted for suggesting Firmino wasn't good enough for a starting berth anymore.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostThere can't be any doubt now - surely - that he's unequivocally ahead of Firmino. At the moment it feels like the front three is likely to be Mane Jota and Salah, with Mané's Place potentially under threat from Diaz.
I don't think Bobby will get a new deal, I think he will probably leave in the summer. I don't think we can afford to let 2 of the main 5 leave this summer, but wouldn't be surprised if we let Mané's contract run down and let him leave on a free in a year's time (I hope I am wrong on this but it feels where we are heading) leaving the next 18 months for Diaz to fully transition into the side and Carvalho to develop somewhat (assuming we sign him).
All this is obviously dependent on Salah signing a new contract, if he doesn't that might change things. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I could see us selling Mane and letting Bobby’s contract run more than the other way around.
We have more strength in depth in Mane’s position than we do in Bobby’s. Mane would likely have more takers and would bring in more money for us than Bobby too.
There’s also Origi and Taki’s potential departures to add in as well..
