Think we need to not compare him and Bobby (when he was in monster miode) as two totally different types of player.





Think when we are at full strength and have Thiago, Fabinho and another (Keita being my choice from our current squad) then we have the capability to control the game more from the centre and not need a central play builder further up the pitch and as such can cater to having three out and out attackers up front.

I think this is exactly how Klopp sees us now. Not tne same need for a Bobby type anymore with those 3

Feel a bit for Jota. He’s definitely not good enough as a CF in the big games (BIG games) and Diaz had come in and been unplayable. All of this whilst acknowledging Jota is delivering career best stats this season.

But there’s no time for sentiment. Harsh to get hooked at HT but you can’t argue with the result. He needs to work on his first touch.

Earlier in the season it looked like Jota had overtaken Firmino for the central role.

Last few weeks Diaz has probably taken over the left sided role and Mane has taken the central role.Our forward line is ace

Do feel sorry for Jota, 20 goals this season and it still looks like he'll struggle to get in the side, it's crazy

It was a collective issue, literally everyone played badly in that first half, I don't think I seen that happen to us before, it was systemic. Unfortunately for Jota, the game was primed for someone like Diaz & it was proven to be the correct decision.

I think he's also unlucky in that when you are up top with Mane or Salah and things aren't clicking, then neither of those two are being taken off because even on their poorer days they can destroy pretty much any defence with just one run, touch or shot.

They have just built up that capital in the bank over the years to be able to have that luxury.

Villarreal were man marking first half and our front 3 should have moved them around which they didn’t. I think the idea behind Diaz coming in is that he was going to do more lateral and forward runs that would break that first half cycle. This is more or less what I understood of what Klopp said after the game. So all in all, the same players minus Jota started playing football again.

Yeah, it needed someone with Diaz's movement to pull Villareal out of shape and give the team more time to play.

Jota isnt a bad player, Diaz just had the tools needed.

Yeah it was more Diaz had to come on rather than Jota having to come off (they were all bad enough to be subbed off!).

I think the areas Jota needs to improve on are really clear. His link up play has been below the level we need. He's made up for it with his goalscoring, but with the competition we have that alone won't be enough.

Unfortunately for Jota, Diaz just looks a level above him. He has got it all. We play so many games though I think we can keep them all happy enough so no big deal.

Jota is also a phenomenon in the air. Was a tough, yet ultimately correct call. I'm sure he will bounce back.
