So good to see him come to life after that. He's never been great in the build-up but that was a handy assist for Mo, and the goals he scored will give him a bundle of confidence as all strikers need.
    Yep, he was absolutely shocking.

Hopefully the goals help him get some confidence back...even if he shinned one of them in

I'd have hooked him after 25 minutes he was THAT bad.

Both of his goals were extremely well taken.

Best shinned goal since Rooneys overhed kick!

And an assist for Salah’s 1st and played a huge part in Salah’s 2nd.

After 30 mins, I thought he’d be off at half time but he completely turned his performance around.

He is at his best making late runs into the box, using his movement to create openings & has a great work rate . He's not amazing technically, nor is he the type of player than will dribble by players regularly but he can be very effective. I do think some people forget his numbers last season, 21 Goals & 8 assists is a great tally for a squad player. He desperately needed that initial goal, had a shocking 30 mins. Great boost for him & the team to have him back at it.

Yeah it was a cracker. Total shinner miss hit right into bottom bins from 20 yards.

After a year without a goal he must be wondering ‘what the ****’.

While agree with what you're saying but I'd also add that his shooting technique is probably the best at the club. Hopefully the confidence from last night will see him score regularly from now to the end of the season.

Somehow I was belting this out at the top of my voice yesterday despite apparently knowing less than 50% of the lyrics mumble shouting

Oh, he wears the number 20,

He will take us to victory,

And when he’s running down the left wing,

He’ll cut inside and score for LFC.

                  He’s a lad from Portugal,

Better than Figo don’t you know,

                  Oh, his name is Diogo!

Fond memories of singing that at Wembley last season. Love how a song reminds you of a particular ground or game or moment. The Bobby song always transports me back into the 2019 final

5 goals in 7 starts this season and his thread is sitting on page 6, not bumped since last season.

Scores world class goal last night, key involvement in 3 goals and should have had 2 assists for Nunez with a great back heel and lovely through ball, yet barely gets mentioned.

Definitely think we take this lad for granted. That great stat last week certainly supports this, that Rashford who had the season of his life last year and was being talked about with the Salah's and Mbappe's, has actually scored and assisted less than Jota since the start of last season, who has been in and out of our starting 11.

Still sickens me that first big injury he had for us as he really was in the form of his life and arguably the best player in the league at that time. I also think we don't realise how bad results suffer when he's unavailable, although couldn't be arsed checking the stats to back this UP.

Anyway, he was excellent last night, pushing Gravenberch for MOTM.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

He’s a streaky player and he’s definitely on one at the moment.

Agree, shows what a squad game it is when his quality doesn't start every week.

Think I said before but for me he's the Portuguese Fowler.

He's basically a squad player - if we're playing a big final tomorrow with everyone fit I think everyone would agree he wouldn't start - and he's as good a squad player as you could wish to have.

I think the problem is he is a streaky player in terms of goal scoring, but he doesn't offer enough to the side when he isn't on a hot scoring run, which is why other players are ahead of him.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He'd be my second striker after Salah. He's intelligent, presses really well, has a great eye for goal and makes fantastic sneaky runs. My only issue with him is injuries. For me he's our second best striker.
