Rest in peace Diogo. Thoughts with his family. So so sad.

End of the day. I’m still in shock, can’t imagine how the family is feeling, what an absolutely horrendous tragedy

        RIP Diogo

Hopefully we retire the 20 shirt

Maybe I’m no different to anyone else, but losing someone you feel a connection to, someone who held meaning in your life, no matter the role they played, is always hard to process. Whether it's a close friend or a footballer you've followed for years, the feeling of loss hits deeply. For me, it’s always difficult to accept. Part of you clings to the hope that it’s all been a mistake, that somehow it’s not real.

Seeing that photo from his wedding, with his wife and those poor little kids, my heart shattered. I have children the same age, and I can only imagine the confusion and pain they must be feeling now. It’s unbearable.

Diogo was never about the spotlight. He wasn’t the superstar chasing fame, and he didn’t need to be. He just got on with the job, quietly, consistently, and brilliantly, one of the very best we’ve ever had. And now, as stories emerge about the kindness and humility he showed behind the scenes, it only confirms the calibre of the man we’ve lost.

Like Jurgen said, maybe someone up there needed him more, but it’s incredibly hard to see the sense in it right now.

This loss is enormous. I truly hope we retire the Number 20 shirt in his honour. Thank you for everything, Diogo. You gave us more than you'll ever know.

            Well said Kingfunk.

That volley against Seville, the Tottenham 4-3 winner, the derby winner last session, so many fond memories of the guy. There was an assist for Salah when he headed a bouncing ball for Salah to run on to, can't remember the game, but it was pure class. He gave everything his body had to give and loved playing for the club. It's only football but he made the people happy, and that's a big achievement in life that very few people can match. Thanks Diogo.

Edit: this has been posted above didn’t see it.

                Ooft. Beautiful words from Robbo.

How can you process being at someone’s wedding and then finding out they have died a few weeks later. I’m finding it emotional. How must it be for his friends and family.

Saw a pic of his wife and him when they were kids. Childhood sweethearts. It’s heartbreaking…

I can't imagine how the players are processing this right now when they're supposed to be getting ready for an exciting new season.

Professionals or not, this will hit them all very hard indeed.

Imagine how hard it's going to be for the new signings coming in for pre season. In normal circumstances they would be buzzing. Yet they're coming into a sad and sombre environment. They're fairly young lads too. Yesterday I was still in shock and processing, today I'm really upset. Those kids and wife. It's impossible to comprehend. Life sucks at times.

doesn’t feel any easier or more real today.

Unimaginable for his family and friends.

Preseason returns for today have been postponed and from Monday there will be a phased return for some players depending on how they are feeling mentally.

Quite right too. There will be a plane to Porto in the morning too no doubt as the club will want to show their support to his family.
