We'll have to wait and see but whatever the cause hopefully lessons will be learned and Diogo will be the last to lose his life like this.
I'd been wondering this about the car whose it was where it was from etc. My initial thoughts were that it wasn't his and it was a hire or borrowed or something (As the plan was to catch the Ferry).

But I guess it could have been his or his brother's and the plan was for his brother to drop him off at the Ferry and then his brother takes the car home. From that point of view probably makes sense for him to have been driving there if his brother was going to do the drive back alone. I guess equally it could have been a right hand drive that he was bringing back to the UK and his brother had alternative plans. All speculation though
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I’m no expert but some people think that if Jota had have been driving a normal car, he’d still likely be alive even if they veered off the road for whatever reason.
The Audi R8, which shares the same chassis as the Huracán, is also not NCAP rated. I don't think you can say either is unstable or fire-prone. The Huracan is mid-engined, which is inherently more stable than a front or rear-engined car.

Antonio managed to lose his Ferrari FF on a B road, through Epping Forest in the middle of a storm. This is not a comparable incident, and it is much more likely to have been due to inappropriate speed for the conditions.

Apparently, it was hired through a firm in Barcelona a few days earlier, according to the Police report.

That opens up a whole new can of worms regarding his familiarity and experience with the vehicle, as well as how the controls may differ from those of his own Urus.

The investigation will also need to examine the service and inspection records of the hire company.

I wonder if the company had a tracker on it, as they could have a record of the speed it was travelling.

I don't have any appetite to read or speculate about the details of the accident. It happened; the consequences were tragic; and it is difficult/impossible to think about football again...but what good comes from debating details and speculation?

Paul, grief is one of the most individual of emotions and how each of us deal with it is our way, which we are all entitled to.

If you read my reply to Kenneth further up the thread I tried to explain why I was trying to understand what happened and why that was important to me.

If it is upsetting folk I’ll refrain from posting about it, that wasn’t my intention at all.

I’m the same I think. Understanding what happened is a way of processing, coming to terms with and trying to make some sense of things.

My point was simply that without as much publicly available accident testing data, it’s harder to understand how safe they are relative to more normal vehicles.

Was coming to terms with it and just watched the YouTube video the club put out about jota behind the scenes. He was a real character. I think we're going to miss him equally for what he bought in banter and kindness as we will miss from his game time. Set me off again seeing his pride in the fans singing his song. **** football. **** life.

We were driving home from holiday in France today so stopped off at Anfield to pay our respects and lay some flowers. The memorial is absolutely massive - flowers the entire length of the main stand now. We added ours and also signed the book of condolences. I realised that the only time IÂ’ve ever been to Anfiald with my Dad Jota scored both in a 2-0 win and with my eldest he grabbed the winner when we saw the epic 4-3 win v Spurs. The boys and I wrote our memories into the book and it was touching to see them both want to contribute. Brothers writing about brothers

There are people turning up constantly. The mood is sombre but reflective. Once the games start I can really see people channeling g their passion and helping the team on. Life has to go on eventually. Games will be played. Goals will be scored but we will be doing it for Diogo.

It's good to see they're doing short moments of silence for Jota before the matches for the womens world cup.

300Ft sounds like a massive skid and a high speed crash, but if these online tools are close, it sounds like he was driving under 90MPH, which from the reports is over the limit, but not an insane speed.
That's to come to a complete stop, which clearly didn't happen if the impact was fatal.

                              SSN

Liverpool have confirmed that the number 20 shirt will be permanently retired in honour of Diogo Jota.

The tribute marks the first time Liverpool have retired a player's number throughout their 133-year history, as they honour the lives of Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, who were killed in a car crash in Spain on July 3.

The retirement applies to the club at all levels, including men's first team, women's team and all academy sides.

Liverpool came to the decision after consulting with Jota's wife, Rute, and other members of his family.

The Reds have also announced plans to pay tribute to them during Sunday's pre-season friendly against Preston.

There will be a rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' prior to the 3pm kick-off and Preston will lay a wreath alongside the away supporters, Liverpool said.

A minute's silence will then be observed, with digital tributes displayed on the stadium big screen and on pitchside LED boards.

Players from both teams will wear black armbands.

The pre-match programme will also feature written tributes to Jota and Silva.
