Only Hyppia and VVD have been really dominant in the air over the past couple of decades, and while Phillips is not in that class, I think he is better in the air than Matip and Gomez. I know that may not be a popular view, but I would not let him leave, regardless.

          I said for a while he'd be a great option to come on to help defend a 1 goal lead against teams that are launching the ball into the box. Whatever you consider the pecking order of our CBs he'd be my first pick for that role, even if he's technically 5th choice starter. Ultimately I think it comes down to what he wants to do and I suspect he'd want first team football.
          The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

            Yeah that whole, “you’ll be starting the season as 5th choice” is probably a tough sell. He’s 24 years old. It’s the best time for him to show ambition and get a decent move. Good luck to him he had a memorable run of games for us. I suspect Klopp worked wonders with him.

                      Deserves it imo after his displays towards the end of last season. Reliable and super committed. He wontnget much game time but is an option in the cups.
