Kept flip flopping on him bringing the chaos, but in the business end of the season little doubt that he's a proper donkey.

If you could swap him out for a realistic target, who would it be? Kane? Isaak? Toney?Originally posted by Kenneth View PostI think we’ll look back on this purchase as the reason that Klopp’s tenure fizzled out. If we’d spent the money on a proper goal scorer we’d have won the league already this season and would have qualified for the CL last year. What he brings to the team just isn’t enough."We oil the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies."

Problem for me is that these guys aren't a unit in the same way Salah Mane and Firmino were, the link up play isn't right which leads to poor decisions from the 3 of them, you can probably expand that to the whole attacking side to some extent. For example, a few years ago we went on the break and you knew we were going to score, a man over and the opposition were done for. this side just don't seem to have that, we fail to score alot of breaks where we really should. Something about it them as a unit just doesn’t seem to click for me. But if you look at the number of goals our main forwards get in the PL statistically it is very similar overall to the Salah, Mane, Firmino and Jota/Origi numbers. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

If Klopp was staying on I think this lad would be first out the door in the summer.
He's had (almost) two full seasons under Klopp and as we've seen in last nights game and the game against Man U he's still missing what could be termed easy chances.
All of the criticisms about his game from last season are still applicable.
The most frustrating thing is that he seems to have regressed as the season has gone on. There was a point where it looked as though 'he got it' and would kick on.

Really?Originally posted by red g View Postlooking like his good form was an Anomoly which is what we all feared.
Does he seem less involved now too? Some games he seemed everywhere.
He definitely frustrates but his numbers are very good: 18 goals and 13 assists.
I think City fans probably get frustrated at Haaland (30 goals and 6 assists).
Not saying he's perfect, but he's improving season on season, and it'd be really tricky and expensive to replace him with someone more productive.

18 goals and 13 assists across 4 competitions for a player who should be the focal point of our attack isn't really that great.Originally posted by Pablo View PostReally?

He's scored 11 in the league. His expected goals is double that.

"Should be" but has spent more than a few games this season being played on the left wing.
That run of games when Salah was at the AFCON/Injured, Nunez was started on the left with Jota moving into the central position.
His combined return is good, but whether very good is enough for a club like Liverpool is another debate.
Next season it will be interesting to see if the new manager sees Nunez as someone to make the starting striker in a central position or if he sees him as a squaddie/utility attcker that can play across the front line.
Replacing him might be an option but the who is the big question. There are a lot of strikers who are having a good season this year, but for most it is there first really good season and they are pretty much doing what Nunez did the season before he joined us.
Boniface, Gyokeres and others very much fall under that heading.
The more established guys that bring a high work rate, that are good finishers but that also can bring other players into the attack and that have a number of seasons showing it at a high level and that might be available? That is going to be a short enough list imo.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
