The downside to players, or anyone really, that live and dies off their emotions. I'm not really blaming him - it's just who he is. His hastiness and impulsivity all seem to be part of his personality and therefore probably part of his inaccuracy in front of goal.

He’s a firebrand, when he gets to a scenario where it is all going his way and the ball is hitting the back of the net frequently I imagine he could be a real force of nature, but when it’s not, he’s not. He needs to find a place within all of that emotion where he can deliver elite performance.Modifying post.

I think he never will. He's like Balotelli in a way, and all of us really - victims and/or beneficiaries of our own personalities. I've wondered this before with Darwin - what if he got an injury that slowed him down slightly? Would he be compelled to change his game in some way that lead to some sort of composure? Or would he be just **** altogether?Originally posted by Buzzo View PostHe’s a firebrand, when he gets to a scenario where it is all going his way and the ball is hitting the back of the net frequently I imagine he could be a real force of nature, but when it’s not, he’s not. Said this ages ago in this thread, you either have composure or you don't imo, it's not really something that can be learned. You can certainly improve as a footballer but that's one thing that you either have or haven't.

I would still be starting him, let him run himself ragged for 60 mins, then bring on Jota (who is supposedly the more clinical striker) if we are struggling for goals.
Bringing on Darwin to be an insta-fix when the game has got away from us does him and us no favours. He might get one big chance, but he will be under pressure to score it, whereas starting him will take that pressure away somewhat. ie miss one, there's still time to fix it.

If that was in the PL with the **** referees we’ve got he’d probably have been sent off
