Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

That was classy from Contador letting Rujano Guillen win

Contador will win the Giro comfortably

George Hincapie has added his name to the list of ex-Lance Armstrong teammates who say they saw the embattled American cycling hero use performance-enhancing drugs, CBS News reports.

The American news program, 60 Minutes reported that Armstrong's former US Postal team-mate Hincapie told US federal investigators that he witnessed the seven-time Tour de France winner using banned substances.

The 60 Minutes report comes one day after the network released video of another former US Postal member, Tyler Hamilton, claiming Armstrong cheated during his first Tour de France win in 1999.

The network is releasing excerpts of the show ahead of the airing of the full program on Sunday.

"I saw it in his refrigerator," Hamilton told the program. "I saw him inject it more than one time like we all did, like I did many, many times."

Cancer survivor Armstrong won the Tour de France for the first time in 1999 and captured every race from 1999-2005.

Armstrong has vehemently denied using performance-enhancing drugs during his cycling career.

        Reckon it's true?

        Armstrong tweeted this:

20+ year career. 500 drug controls worldwide, in and out of competition. Never a failed test. I rest my case.

Classy, yep, and also in his long-term interest. You need friends in the peloton and Rujano now owes him.

          Armstrong tweeted this:
I guess we'll find out in time. It's not looking good for Armstrong's reputation and will be very damaging to cycling.

I think cycling is changing but it's had a massive endemic problem with drugs and it sadly continues to plague the sport. F*ck knows what happens if Contador is doping, whether or not he's cleared in June. It takes time to change a culture and other, proved cases show we're not there yet.

          It's all very depressing.

Aye, but at least cycling actually does something about it and actively searches for anyone who is doping.

A lot of other sports just brush that kind of stuff under the carpet, or hand down pointless penalties.

Yep, I agree, although I think we need face up to the unpalatable fact that, as a largely athletic activity, as opposed to one that's more skill-based, cycling's problems have been widespread throughout the professional ranks (and beyond) for decades and run very deep.

It doesn't stop me loving it but it's not blind love, if you know what I mean.

I went for a ride this morning. I should have taken some drugs. Rubbish.

Nope, I don't think so. If the report is true and Hincapie has testified as claimed then it's hard to see how Armstrong's can escape with his reputation and his palmares intact.

I haven't been following the Giro but why can he take part but is still not sure of being able to participate in Le Tour?

Because he has been absolved of guilt by his national association (the organisation designated as judge of the case) but the UCI and WADA have appealed to CAS. That's the final arbiter on it.

I only caught up with Sunday's Giro stage late last night but I have to say it was amazing. All the leading riders left without teammates for three major climbs, attacks all over the place, plus, a few minutes ahead, a gripping race for the stage win spread over the final 50km of the stage.

                            Mind-blowing.

So Contador's going to win the overall and the points, Garzelli's got the mountains. Just the white jersey left and Kreuziger should hang on to that.

The team classification could change I suppose, with three teams within 1'24".

The organizers behind Tour de France have decided to not have any pictures of Contador in their official magazines. So it looks like lasat years winner won`t be given a place this year.
