It's same in light heavy as well though with Jones. Cormier is being talked up, and he is a decent fighter, but he's gunna get smashed.

But then it's always been the way. Silva and GSP until recently ere massively dominant for years.

Outstanding fighters come out and no-one can touch them.

Alexander Gustafsson didn't do too badly.

I've not seen that fight. Just used to Jones completely smashing everyone that comes in front of him.

Will have to look out for it being shown

Its an incredible fight- you really need to see it! Decision could have gone either way, its the only time I've seen Jones not absolutely dominate his opponent.

Yup, was an absolutely awesome fight. Personally I thought it was much closer than the judges scored it, just 1 round in it. Sonnet posted an editorial and reckoned it was Cormiers 1 and only title shot due to his age, but they have to have a rematch after that.

Most of the rest of the card was ****e but however the co-main was fantastic. I reckon he had that rear naked in the first but let him off so he could beat him up. Such a bitter finish. Lol.

Level after three then DC was gassed - all went according to plan for Jones I'd say.

I had it Jones, Cormier, Cormier, Jones, Jones. But 3rd was very close, so likely where judges disagreed with me.

I don't think it did go quite according to plan for Jones. Vasquez has clearly given Cormier a lot of extra tips on dirty boxing from the inside which neutralised a big part of Jones game. Normally he kills in there with his elbows but he was getting smashed by uppercuts in the clinch. That's Vasquez's game. Not very entertaining but very effective.

Jones is a quick learner though so I'd agree a rematch would be in his favour.

Great fight, however I have a feeling that Guatavsson will get his rematch next. Some unfinished business there.

You would hope so. Guatavsson 2 followed by DC 2 later in the year.

I don't think there's any need for a Jones DC 2 as it wasn't really a close fight. Jones would quite comfortably. DC should have to win another 3 fights to get another shot

I don't think Alex beating Rumble is a forgone conclusion either.

Rumbles only chance of winning will be taking him down and holding him there for the full fight, which will be harder said than done. Jones couldn't do it.

If its a stand up fight, Gustafsson should win comfortably.
