It's very much borderline - as I recall he took only 47 seconds off Schleck in the final ITT last year. But Schleck was on a great day then and he might not be this time. And as for the time triallists among the GC contenders...

I agree, it was better than expected from Saxo Bank, and also BMC. And Wiggins looks in great form, but he's going to be under enormous pressure in the mountains.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I'm looking forward to seeing Evans and Wiggins in the mountains, hard to say how they will follow this year`?

IMO, and that is only after seeing the highlights as I was watching the wimbledon final, I have to say that the Schleck brothers didn't look that strong yesterday - but it might have been the tactic to drag them the whole route.

Oh yeah, it was definitely a tactic. Frank Schleck sat at the back the whole way - unbelievable really. I know it saves their energy - I suppose they felt that any effort expended on their part would have been a marginal gain at most and a few seconds here or there at this stage aren't going to make a difference. It was a gamble but it paid off.

Unless they're both in shocking form.

Great stage for Gamin yesterday, with Farrar winning and Hushovd keeping the yellow. A shame that Cavendish lost ten points, even Hushovd told the jury that Cavendish didn`t do anything wrong.
The first hint of a hard finish today, wonder if some of the big guns will try to test the others. Riders like Gilbert and Evans will set a high pace towards the end to get the yellow, important that a rider like Contador doesn`t lose any more time.

Evans takes out the stage by the narrowest of margins.

Brilliant riding from Hushovd to hold onto yellow.

              A quick question regarding sponsors..

Are Team HTC sponsored by highroad or is that just the mangement team?
and what happened to Team Columbia or was that HTC?

I've seen pictures of Cavendish with Columbia/HTC on the shirt

So Highroad is the team and the current sponsor is htc..

Columbia were involved with the sponsorship last year then but it's now just htc?

                  Is Cavendish off to Sky?

Never thought Hushovd would hold on to it. I'm really impressed.

                        RIP

Yet again Cavendish gets an unfair punishment. Anyone might think the UCI commissaires or the ASO don't want him to win the green jersey.

Great finish today. Good win for Evans. Good ride from Hushovd to keep yellow.

It's not great that Andy Schleck couldn't keep up with his brother and his rivals.

The hill was probably too short and "explosive" for him.

Yes, that's possible but it's a little surprising that his brother was able to keep with Evans and Contador while Andy slipped into the same group as a pure time triallist like Wiggins. It's not like Frank is famed for his explosiveness either. But maybe Andy has sacrificed a little in order to be more competitive in the time trial.

Evans is looking good it has to be said.

With all the mountains stages in the Pyrenees and Alps still to come, Leopard-Trek rider Schleck was quick to calm any fears about his performance.

"Before the stage I was a bit worried because I know that short climbs like that don't really suit me very well. I prefer longer climbs and I just don't have the punch to sprint for a kilometre," said Schleck.

"When they accelerated I was beginning to struggle and decided to just try and pace myself and limit my losses.

"Losing seven (eight) seconds isn't good, but ...."
