Hide was mauled that night in the second. Was like a heavyweight fighting a middleweight.
Mind you it was not as bad that night for Hide as when he faced BoweLast edited by Doc_Piptorious; 01-05-17, 05:43 PM.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

It's about time Canelo and Golovkin got it on. I can't wait

GGG should be favourite but wouldn't be shocked to see Canelo come out on top
Yeah I think it is telling that Canelo now wants to get in the ring with GGG and without any of his usual catchweight nonsense.
I think it was the GGG fight against Jacobs rather than the one against Brook that has made Canelo willing to take him on. He looked a bit old in that fight and the flaws that seemed to show against Brook looked even further along.
GGG will most likely be the bookies favourite in the run up to the fight, but if he fights to the level he did against Jacobs ( and Jacobs is not a bad fighter just not top level) then I could see Canelo winning on points by a few rounds or even scoring a late stoppage.
Hope GGG gets a big win, but right now I am leaning towards Canelo out scoring him.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

It's a weird matchup stylistically but I think Golovkin's amateur pedigree will help see him through. He hasn't looked great in recent bouts and age is probably catching up with him a little but I think GGG will come through. Canelo will always be looking for his favourite counter uppercut on the back end but I think GGG is too smart for that, he doesn't really rush in and is very patient in how he pieces his attacks together.
Also, we don't really know how Canelo will respond to being hit with multiple solid shots. He's finally fighting someone his own size, I still expect Canelo to outweigh Golovkin by some bit, but only one man in that ring has power to be fearful of. I like Canelo, but I do think he's quite overrated. He's proved to be anything other than convincing when he's been up against decent fighters with some pedigree. Also I don't like the way that he's hidden behind catch weights. On paper Cotto is a great win, but he was too big for Cotto on the night and was made to look ponderous for large periods during that fight. Austin Trout is for me the only time he's shown a really top performance against a good fighter in their prime. He couldn't lay a finger on Mayweather and Lara beat him despite what the judges said. Angulo and Kirkland are good fighters but Kirkland hadn't boxed in 3 years and Angulo was on decline already. Canelo's last 3 opponents were pretty rubbish by world level, but he did his job. Golovkin represents a completely different animal to what he's been in there with upto this point.
I'm glad that we're getting to a point in boxing where titles are being unified more regularly and the better guys are eventually fighting each other. Some of these bouts are happening too late though. Would've loved to see Kovalev wipe the smirk off of Stevenson's face 3 or 4 years ago. Hopefully that fight can still happen. On the subject of the former, his rematch with Ward should be good, although I expect Ward to have an easier time now that he's worked out Kovalev's rhythm.

On that highlighted bit.
Totally agree. I think Ward will look far more comfortable in the rematch and we may well see him trying to force a stoppage this time around.
Kovalev is still a real threat of course, but once Ward figures a fighter out that's it. He is just in control from then on.
Think it is also the reason why you rarely see those beaten by him make serious noises to get a rematch. So on that front kudos must be given to Kovalev for backing his own ability and wanting to go again.
But don't think Kovalev can bring anything new to the fight, whereas Ward will start now knowing what Kovalev brings and he will be the one bringing that bit extra second time out.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
