He was convinced but it was quite a way from pitching in line.

If it's umpire's call on the LBW what is given if the on-field umpire has wrongly given the batsman out caught?
He hasn't called either way on LBW..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

The system simply doesn't work. Not the technology (not in this case anyway) but the process, the protocols. It's an anomaly that needs resolution.
Why the f*ck were all these issues not considered in advance? The introduction and application of DRS has been nothing less than shambolic..

Agreed - but it's weird how it's worked pretty bloody well until this series, when it has just collapsed.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostThe system simply doesn't work. Not the technology (not in this case anyway) but the process, the protocols. It's an anomaly that needs resolution.

Hmm, I don't know. What happens in this situation?Originally posted by Hollowman View PostI think it did work there, it's just that the players, the crowd, and all of us had no idea what was happening. If the ump wasn't going to give that leg before, then it all went smoothly.
What they really need to tweak is explaining **** to people clearly.
Bowling side appeals for LBW. Umpire gives not out because he thinks the batsman hit it. Bowling side asks for review. The review clearly shows the batsman didn't hit it. The ball was going to hit middle stump.
That's out.
Umpire's call in this case surely applies to the line of the ball, not the doubt about whether or not he hit it.
That's the anomaly since the umpire didn't rule on whether it was hitting the stumps because he deemed it irrelevant as soon as the batsman hit it (as he believes)..

My understanding is that the Indian position was about the reliability of the technology alone. And their demand for 100% accuracy seems to rule DRS out forever on the basis it defies the laws of physics. It's a risible stance.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostAye, it's right that about India, the Indians said at the start that there were too many 'unknowns' at the moment to buy into this drs.
Looks like they maybe had a point, but it does look as though all the drs inefficiencies, whether human or not, are coming home to roost in this series..
