They can be used for a full body workout that if used at high intensity, with short
or mo periods of rest can be very good for the cardiovascular system. Different cardio/fitness levels to,running though. You'd burn more calories and strengthen your muscles better using them than say running.

I have a 7 & 12, the 7 is too light but using it for 30 mins makes me want to collapse and the 12 I cant do longer than 15 mins maximum! Initially the 12 had me nigh on collapsing after 5 mins.

I'm weigh 15 stone and am 5ft 11 I'm not massive by any stretch

When working with them I do.
          2 handed swings
          1 handed swings
          High pulls
          Shoulder press
          Snatch
          20kg cleans
          16kg turkish get ups
          Windmills

I also mix in press ups and the plank.

I interval train with 40secs on 20secs off

I did used to do a bit of weights at the gym.

Turkish get ups, never been able to remember how to do that exercise, always used to look a dick when I tried it in the gym as I'd forget what the hell I was meant to be doing and just looked like it couldn't stand up properly.

Have to say, I’m enjoying this wee diet. It’s day 4 and I’ve suffered no side effects. Days 2 and 3 were supposed to be bad for cravings and lack of energy as your body adjusts to the lack of carbs, but I haven’t noticed. It’s day 4 now, I’m loving the food, got plenty of energy and don’t feel half as hungry inbetween meals as I normally do. Thought I’d end up eating scrambled eggs every day, but still haven’t made them once. So far I’ve had…

                  Day 1 (Sat):
                  Breakfast- 3 hard boiled eggs.
Lunch- 1 large homemade cheeseburger (without bun), 2 veg roll.
Dinner- 1 steak, 2 small pork steaks, 2 fried eggs.
(*Due to lack of veg, my food didn’t really digest well that day and sat in my stomach a bit)

                  Day 2 (Sun- Gym day):
Breakfast- 2 beef sausages, 2 veg roll, 2 bacon, 1 fried egg.
Lunch- ½ roast chicken breast and 2 legs, steak, cabbage, cauliflower.
Dinner- Salmon fillet, broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts.

                  Day 3 (Mon):
                  Breakfast- 2 hard boiled eggs.
Lunch- Salad (ham, turkey, roast beef, tuna, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mixed leaves, peppers, scallions, egg)
Dinner- 2 turkey steaks, broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts.

                  Day 4 (Today- Gym day):
                  Breakfast- 3 sausage, 3 bacon, 1 egg.
                  Lunch- Salad (as above)
Dinner- 2 pork steaks, 1 chicken fillet, cabbage, cauliflower.

Bar that, all I’ve did was snack on a few slices of cheese. I’ve drank a lot of tea though and I don’t think the milk is recommended in this diet.

                  Obviously no booze either.

All good so far though and if the weight does drop off as expected, can see me doing this every few months (which is why I’m posting my menu, so I can refer back )

                    Cheers for posting RR.

I actually really like the look of that. Meat, meat, a bit more meat, diary, salad and veg. Looks good.

This bit doesn't look good though:

But I might give the menu a bash. Have you noticed any difference already? Or is it a bit too soon?

My weight loss is still going ok. I lost 2 St or so, but i have plateaued out a bit. I need to get exercising more. Brining a packed lunch to work is the best thing I have started doing. It stops the variation.

Also Porridge is great. Porridge with some different fruits in is really tasty.

TBH, I weighed myself on day 2 and had actually put on weight.

The scales were dodgy though and when I had weighed myself before the diet at home it was the lightest reading I've ever got, so I knew they probably weren't accurate (plus I was pretty dehydrated from my final booze session). I'm usually 64kgs fully clothed on gym scales, so gonna wait a week first to check them. Don't expect or need to lose that much weight TBH, just a bit of body fat.

Not sure how quickly I'm expected to drop weight, reports vary. One said that it's common to lose about only 2kgs in first week, but that's purely water, and then the real weight loss begins. I'll be happy if I get below 60kg with no effort as I once busted my balls going to gym every day (twice most days) and eating well for a bout 4 months to drop only 1kg to 63. I then did the reverse and drank every day with little to no exercise for about 4 months and only gained 2kg.

Muscle weighs more than fat though, and with a diet like that mixed with working out in the gym then it's probably likely that you will be a bit heavier.

                          Look at it that way.

Ha ha, that's what I used to kid console myself with, but now I want to see proper, physical results.

I've conceded that I'm never gonna gain that much muscle mass as I just don't have the drive to push myself, so am content just tone up a bit which is why I decided on this diet. When boozing every day, I didn't mind having my wee beer belly, the gym was just to keep me relatively fit, but got pissed off recently when I was going regularly without the booze (well not as much) and still wasn't making much progress.

Ask the Personal Trainer: Does Muscle Weigh More Than Fat?
We resolve the controversy once and for all.
Article By: William R. Sukala, MS, CS

Q: Does muscle really weigh more than fat?

Muscle does not weigh more than fat, any more than lead weighs more than feathers. A pound is a pound is a pound. Where the misunderstanding often comes in is that muscle is much more dense than fat, so that, by volume, it seems to weigh more. That is, a pound of muscle occupies less space than a pound of fat. In addition, because a pound of muscle burns more fat than a pound of fat, even at rest, by increasing your lean muscle tissue mass, you're helping your body burn more calories.

But back to your question. If you only have a small amount of weight to lose, then you may feel like the weight training is not helping you move down on the scale. In fact, the number may even go up, but you will look thinner. This is due to an increase in lean body mass (muscle, bone, blood volume) and a decrease in body fat. In other words, even if the scale doesn't change much, you will probably see a difference in how your clothes fit.

On the other hand, if you have a lot of weight to lose, you will also experience an increase in lean body mass and loss of body fat. But the results on the scale will probably be more dramatic.

                                Oh.

I thought it weighed more than fat.

                                Hmm.
