I hate mornings anyway so the gym first thing is never going to happen for me.Originally posted by Alex View PostYeah, it was killing me. I was getting up at 4 am, to go to the gym, then get to work in London. **** that.
Totally off the wagon, its shameful
I haven't been to the gym for about 6 weeks now just been out running, playing 5 a side and kettlebells at home.

Everything in moderation with the odd blow out works for me and doesnt make me stress out about what I am or am not doing.

I pulled a muscle in my lower back playing badminton a couple of weeks ago and it's been painful until the last couple of days to do anything other than walk. Tonight I'm going for a 6k with the girl next door and am hoping that I can get back in the swing of it straight away. Fingers crossed!
Previous best time for 6k is 32min 36secs I think so your 10k is pretty much the same pace. It's funny how far 6k is when you're not fit but I drew it as a straight line on a road map for my girlfriend and she was quite impressed

I'm 13st 9lbs at the moment, with a target of 13st by the end of June. Started doing something about it when I hit 14st 5lbs after Christmas. At 12st 7lbs I'd look like a sex god but I like food too much.
Brother in laws 52 year old brother had a heart attack at the weekend. I didn't see him more than every couple of years but he was a big lad and did no exercise. Stopped smoking in November though which is a kick in the teeth. He had been 21st (5'10" ish) for a while and averaged 19st apparently

Enjoying the running? At first I hated it and found it boring now I actually quite enjoy it.
Edit - Not a nice one on your brother in laws brother which is obviously horrible.

Never liked the bloke to be honest, he's a cock. Hope he's alright though, looks like he'll lose his job as a crane opertor though.Originally posted by Chazza View PostNice work

The running is ok, it's the breathing that's difficult. I just can't seem to reach a level where it becomes relaxed and I'm too aware of gasping all the time. I don't get it with other exercise, perhaps it'll pass. I've only been out half a dozen times, I reckon I need to notch up double that before it becomes a bit easier, then the bullies next door will up the ante to 10ks I reckon

The new trainers will help with that.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostYes on the treadmill. 25 minutes about 4 times week. More than my body has been used to over recent years.
The foot pain could be a number of things but you might have a slight stress fracture from the running.

My finger is still bleeding from last night's dramatic cheese grating incident.
On the plus side I suppose it means I'm getting a little lighter. Then again I ate the cheese so that probably means a net weight gain.
.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Does anyone use Adidas Micoach software? It provides lots of stats and tots up the total distance on your current shoes. You're not supposed to cover more than 500 miles on one pair I though, my neighbour gets through 3 pairs a year
I recently bought new badminton shoes as my old ones were 5 years old. Should've traded them in sooner but they were comfy

**** me that was tough. We tried to keep to 5m30s per kilometre and just managed it, finishing 6k in 32m59s
I felt sick most of the time and feint when I finished
Micoach reckons I burnt 539 calories and it's given me a run score of 609. I'm going to go out on my own tomorrow and try my hardest to do a 10k but aren't holding up my hope tbh.

If you are aiming to run a 10K, slow your average pace down to nearer 6 mins per kilometre at first.
I've been training for the Great Manchester 10K since February having not really run at all before. I've got my 5k down to 26mins 30secs and I am running the 10K at a slightly slower pace. My target for the 10K is to break the 55 minute mark.
I do a parkrun every Saturday morning. I really recommend them is there's one near you.
I use the Endomondo app and find that really good.Last edited by RoadEnd; 16-05-13, 08:02 PM.

Seconded, you need to run at most every other day if you're training for a 10k.Originally posted by Dan View Post6k to 10 in a day is a silly target. Do 4k comfortably and aim to beat the 6k the following day.
If the circuit is a problem, choose a different one or just run to a fixed point and back again.
