I dont know if I mentioned on this thread before. But I am doing Couch to 5k. I got all the way up to Week 7 before. Then I got Food Poisioning, had a Stag Weekend in Amsterdam, a Cold, Chest Infection and the a weeks holiday to Italy.

So all in all a month was basically wiped off my training. Which nearly put me back to week 1.

Chugging through Week 4 again now. Really enjoying it.

Did anyone else have success with it? Also, do people know of a decent training program to take you from 5k up to 10k? I've only found ones that need paying for at the moment. Which I dont really fancy doing.

I took the Forrest Gump approach. I put on my shoes and ran until I couldn't run any more

I think you're more than capable to do 5k now, it's fear that's holding you back I was chatting to my cousin at the weekend, him and his girlfriend have an app that is building them up to 5k. First few weeks was 1m walking 1m running and has built up to the stage that this week they do 5m of running and am ****ting themselves. 5m running is probably only 1/2 a mile. ****ing weeds

That sounds similar to what I am doing. Was told if you build up slowly, then your body gets time to slowly adjust. Rather than have the shock of forcing it over 5k.

I was also pretty unfit by normal standards when I started.

I'm worried now that I've shocked my body as my very first run was 6k

My mum's trying to make me stop by saying I'll have a heart attack. I've told her that I'd rather have a heart attack from exercising than from being overweight and unfit. I'm not sure I was unfit before I started, I've alway done a bit of exercise and have a active job but I wouldn't say I had a strong heart and lungs. I still don't to be fair but I have fairly good stamina, clearly. I am overweight though and would love to lose 6-10kg

I've tried them for a 2 minute treadmill run and they're lovely.

Woohoo great news. My back injury is just ligament trauma and unrelated to the disc injury. Pelvis is outta line & need a bit of rest & treatment but long term I should be cool. 🎉🎉🎉
                  3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Endomondo has just added a Personal Training Plan option which covers this, but it costs about £2 a month. Haven't tried it myself as I tend to be able to plan in my head ok anyway.

Yeah I do. I tired it out the other night but couldnt make head nor tail of it. Think it goes off Previous Bests, to calculate the plan. I think ill try again when I have finished to the 5k.

Only 4 more weeks and I become a Couch

I think you do it from the website? Did you do it direct from the app?

4 more weeks just to get to 5k? Really pleased for you and I appreciate you building up to it, but it does seem a bit slow

Its 9 weeks. Missing 4 weeks basically set me back another 4 weeks fitness wise. It left me so quickly.

Im really taking my time because of my current weight really shifting 16st around at speed could cause injury. Especially considering I totally ****ed my knees up 3 years ago playing 5 a Side on concrete pitches. But my Doctor put that down to constant changing of direction and the fact I was on the heavy side. I think I was around 19st then. But still.

I am probably too cautious. But when I run I really go as hard as I can. Im knackered when I get back. So Im not exactly walking it.
