Heard good things about the Brooks ones, although Nike have been good to my feet for a while now so I tend to play it safe with them.

Anyway 5.1 mile run done: http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/287333294/8286436

That puts me on 9.35 miles so far Norbs.

Feeling some worrying pain in my Achilles too now! I think it was struggling up the 80m climb and then bombing down the descent that did it

      Ok since Wednesday:

      Pablo: 9.35 miles
      Rich: 3.4 miles
      Norbs: NONE

That's me done until probably Tuesday though while my ankle recovers, so you've got plenty of time to catch up/overtake.

I'm having the weekend off - hope the Achilles settles down and I'll be out Monday evening. I'll never catch up though!

Maybe not, but even if you don't if it gets you out running a couple more times during January it will do you the world of good.

I think I rack up a steady 12-14 miles a week (3 runs per week) so I'll likely have got to about 35 miles at the end of the month (since we started counting).

            The Keeping Fit Thread

Got fed up of reading about the pussys running and decided to have a dedicated weights thread

All runners can slink off to the "exercise" thread

            Got some http://www.myprotein.com/sports-nutr.../10529951.html

Of this stuff ordered from our PE department but it only cost me £20 so I thought why not.

Last nights routine was triceps and biceps - I can hardly lift my arms to feed myself today but no pain no gain

            21's x 3
            Skull Crushers - 10 x 3 with 25kg
            Bicep curls - 3 x 8 with 12.5kg
            Tricep extensions - 3 x 8 with 12.5kg
            Dips - 3 x 10reps

How's everyone else getting on with weights? Any new PB's?
            Cheers

Thank ****. Thought I was the only one.

Osteo told me my hammy is slightly pulled- as a result of my lower lumbar stuff being twisted again. It tends to gravitate towards that if left to its own devices apparently.

Today was pull-ups 5 sets of 8,9,10,9,10. Hammer machine rows (sets of 8 with 50K either side), machine pulldowns (3 sets of 10@ 80k) & wide grip cable rows @ 50k- 8,8,10. Also my core routine I won't bore you with. And deadlifts - which I didn't go full out on cos of my hammy- see how it feels tomorrow but might take a week off lower body (osteo told me to play it by ear). Working sets on deads were 5 reps at 170k, 175, 175 & 160.

Wanted to do more upper back but was time-pressed. Need to look at that- altho it's not usually quite as bad cos I was stretching off my hammy a fair bit today.
                    3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Got a couple of DVD's with 38 minute routines they go with minute sets of something like

                              Swing curl press
                              Bent over row
                              Clean
                              Clean and press
                              Tricep kick backs
                              Windmills
                              Turkish get ups
                              Shoulder press
                              Single arm swings.
A few others that I can't remember at the minute.

Also saw this month challenge where you do 20 two arm swings and then 10 press ups, 20 swings 9 press ups and continue until 1 press up.

Total of 200 swings and 55 press ups as quick as you can for 6 days out of 7.
