Dunno Mr Pads but he went through Maidenhead. His knee blew out- reckons he'd have had sub-12 hours without that.
    3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Alright mate. Have you tried hokas? Thinking about giving the cliftons a go for longer training rubs but don't know anyone who uses them.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

        Training rubs aye? Sounds suspicious!

I've never used them but i've heard good things. A mate runs to work and its all pavement so he likes the extra cushioning. I've seen loads of people on Ultras using them but they just look like ankle breakers, but enough use them so must be something in them.

For my longer runs i use Brooks Cascadias which are fantastic and also Asics nimbus, think im on the 14's at the moment, all have really good cushioning.

I'm seriously contemplating ditching shorter 10K and half marathon stuff (which I expect to do at a good pace) in favour of longer slower (and more scenic stuff). I'm convinced that in my advancing years endurance is a better option.

But back up to about 35 miles a week with only marginal discomfort. The Yoga and foam roller routine seems to be keeping the PF at bay... just

6.4k this afternoon and managed to stay at 10 minute miles but kept my heart under 145 bpm. Finding it easier now and might try 10k next time

This thread has died a death a bit, but I've still been keeping up my running.

Yesterday, just on my own, I broke my 10km and half marathon PBs in the same run.

                          10km - 48mins, Half - 1 hr 52 mins

I have been doing more varied exercise and have worked on my core strength. It seems to have had a massive impact on the longer distances!

                            Nice running Pablo ..

I'm still not back regularly running but did 7k yesterday. I want to get back to 3 runs a week during November

Cheers, did another half marathon Sunday. Two in two weeks. Wasn't as fast. It was really muddy and hard going. Finished though!

I guess it's a good time of year for you to get back into it.

Not so much in England. It's dark when I get home from work now. Took a nasty fall a fortnight ago, but I won't let it put me off.

Ive been running now for about 9 months

Only do 2-3 miles 2 or 3 times a week and the other days I do 5-6 miles on a bike

Primarily wanted to get fit to play tennis with my eldest daughter so have also being playing tennis a couple of times a week for an hour or 2

I have had the odd issue with my knees early on due to pronation whilst running but had seemed to have resolved that (thats part of the reason I alternate between bike and running) and have been taking glucosamine and chondroitin supplements for a few months now

2 weeks ago felt a really sharp pain in my knee when I woke up and everytime I squat or bend down its particularly bad. Have zero swelling on the knee, I stopped the running and biking hoping it was just a strain or pull. Last night it started "grinding" and when I climb the stairs you can here the joint clicking and popping

The pain has also gone from the occasional short sharp pain inside the joint to a dull ache on the side

I have been referred for an x-ray today, but I have this feeling that its not going to be good news. I have had injuries before when I was a young man playing semi-pro football and I'm normally fairly good at reading the severity of them. This one feels as though its not going to be fixed by rest

Absolutely gutted, not too bothered about any potential ops or rehab but the fact I might not be able to run, bike or play tennis for a while
