Ive been running and getting better every time. My 5K is now almost back to where it was when I was at my fittest. Just sub 30 minutes. But I need to smash through that and keep going to get better.

Not run since Sunday as I have had a dose of food poisoning, but i'm hopefully going to go out later and get one in.
    *Except Michael, who died.

****ing raining again so no trails for me. I've been riding on wet mushy grass to get some stamina in the legs. Less than two weeks to go until race day!

I did my first mountain bike race today!

Completed 35km in 2h11m which is much better than the 2h:45m I was aiming for. That included stopping to see if an injured rider was ok and helping a fellow competitor up a muddy creek.

The race included a decent which drops 350m in 2km (1,150ft in 2 miles) - I could smell the brake pads burning! - and finishes on a four mile long beach.

I'm definitely doing it again next year and hopefully with a better bike and certainly a better engine!

Well done mate. Its really nice to set and smash a goal. Especially in an impressive fashion like that.

I have had 2 weeks off running, first week was because of a cold and the second was because of a holiday. But I am back at it as of tommorow. More motivate than ever to break this sub 25 barrier. It seems hard work, but I want to acheive it.

Thanks guys, I think I'm a bit hooked on this racing thing too!

I'm going to relax a little and enjoy my 40th then start on some weights at the gym to strengthen my back and upper body. Those were the two areas I felt were the weakest during the race.

I'm also going to try out some 50km off-road group tours around the mountains here

Sucks, have you looked at foam rolling your gluteus med? Seems like a weak one cascades into bad back, knees and ankles.

I certainly did! Already looking forward to next year, I'm aiming for 1h 45m.
