I think the reaction to Kerrigan's selection has been very unfair and before he even joins the squad is already under massive pressure. 'Experts' everywhere saying he's going to be a disaster. These people really ought to know better.

He can't be any worse a spinner than Moeen Ali. In fact he's proven in the county game that he's deserved his call-ups. His disastrous performance against Oz calls his temperament into question and this has just ramped the pressure up even more. I imagine the management will look at this, bring him along for the ride and save him for the Windies. Would be a baptism of fire for any spinner against India.

Moeen bowled some super deliveries yesterday. He also bowled a lot of rubbish. Given time he could be an excellent spinner for us, but he is not there yet. He needs to do a lot of bowling to improve his consistency.

Its been difficult for him too though because he's had to bowl on benign pitches.To be fair to Moeen, the sri Lankan and Indian spinners have looked no more threatening.

Also worth noting his figures were better than Swanns at Trent Bridge when we played India in 2011.
