It's not just KP. The sacking of Moores was terribly handled. Strauss has had a mare.

Do you really think that was him that did all that? It was basically his first day on the job. You have to believe the people around him had something to do with it. He might have wanted him gone, but I really doubt that he was running around telling everyone.

We will never know though. But it does point to the fact that the ECB needs some serious PR training. The Moores thing was pretty disrespectful. No matter what your opinion of him.

It was him in charge of all that and so the buck stops with him.

Just think its a bit much to pin it on him 6 hours before he officially took over. If he is going to change things, he will need time.

I'm not sure that you can blame Strauss for how something was released to the press before he was actually in place. Clearly it has been a total cluster**** but it is hard to pin the blame on Strauss.

The leaking of the KP news the day before however he might have had a hand in (but then people might just have been guessing because a meeting was being held).

I'm broadly in Alex's camp on this. Strauss needs time. The only thing that seems certain at the minute is that Cook has retained a lot of power influence. Whether that can be turned into a good thing (or overturned) is something else entirely.

Strauss couldn't strategize his way out of a paper bag. Wrong appointment. He was only successful as captain because he had good players and a good coach telling him what to do.

When you listen to Vaighan speak all of these things were discussed in the interview phase with him. Vaughan realised the KP issue was not going to go away, and didn't have any further talks Strauss clearly didn't see it as an issue. Vaughan (and Stewart) also clearly don't agree with the decision.

It's never going to have a line drawn under because of the ridiculousness of the decision. It's staggering, the Ecb can only blame themselves. The lack of fundamental leadership in the last few years is staggering.

Just read that Telegraph article. Cooks a complete and utter mouse. I'd be telling him to do one and go to the Ashes with Root captaining and Peitersen as VC.

I've read Pietersens book, he only really said Cook was a nodding dog. It was hardly sensational stuff. As for Twitter a use, Cook needs to get o a set.

I just think its drawn such a line for most that its almost become impossible to move past it onto other things. I think Strauss tried and failed to draw a line under it and move on.

Id much prefer to talk about Root being Vice Captain. Or Adam Lyth and Mark Wood being in the test squad. Or the fact he was to keep the Test and ODI sides totally separate. All good moves. All overshadowed by KP.
Yes, really he's managed this dreadfully so far and what is he 4 days into his tenure? Surely the sensible option would have been not to pick him for NZ but said nothing about being available due to trust issues which considering he was offered a coaching slot is ridiculous all he's done with his interference is make a bad situation worse.

The reason this has been drawn out for so long is solely down to the ECB who appear to be "not fit for purpose" at present as an organisation running the national game.

Cook should have been bombed out.

Kevin Pietersen: Colin Graves did not lie over England recall

New England and Wales Cricket Board chairman Colin Graves has rejected Kevin Pietersen's claims that he was deceived about a possible international return, BBC Sport has learned.
The ECB plans to issue a statement in response to the batsman's allegations after he was told this week that his bid to earn a recall had been in vain.

What are they doing? They are just making it worse.
I'd love a PR job at the ECB.

ECB and Graves in particular are getting an absolute pelting on social media. If the summer goes badly they'll be a huge clamor for Strauss to be sacked.
