That's a good question but has a very simple answer - English bias.

Young is one of the over-hyped young English prospects and a future mainstay of the Three Lions brand.

    Ireland isn't.

The fact that Ireland is also a bit strange probably didn't help him either.

Actually mate, I don't think a country is eligible for the award. I'm not sure about the last bit either but if you live there then I'll take your word for it.

        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Really? It's farcical but don't think it's worth getting that worked up about!

You really are a horrible little racist old man, aren't you?

I'll be burning my copies of After the Goldrush and Harvest this evening and urging my fellow countrymen to do likewise.

Yes, particularly if I can indulge in some particularly inappropriate forms of public protest against the racist old codger. You bring the tickets I'll bring my tricolour and burning sense of righteous anger.

I imagine the voting to be a little bit like the Eurovision song contest with a fraction of the credibility.
