A few years ago you weren't allowed to loan a player between 2 Premiership clubs, but they changed the rule.Originally posted by SimonNo7 View PostJo back to Neverton on a season long loan.
Anybody else think that this is completely wrong that a Premiership team should be allowed to loan another Premiership’s team player?
In fact that a Premiership team should be allowed to loan any player full stop?
Shouldn’t loans be about the higher division teams loaning young/fringe players to teams in lower leagues for experience?
It's an interesting point though because IMO it gives the bigger clubs an advantage, they can sign young players (for example) and loan them out to get Premiership experience at another club. If this weren't allowed you could argue that player would sign for another club where he could get a game regularly and then they could sell him on for a profit to a bigger club if he did well. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Interesting point. Not sure where I stand - the only thing that worries me is that it allows bigger teams to gain an advantage as United did when Howard went on loan to Everton but couldn't play against them (which is now the defacto rule) as this somewhat prejudices the competition if the player is any good.Originally posted by SimonNo7 View PostJo back to Neverton on a season long loan.

It would probably be better if it weren't allowed I agree.
See no reason at all why PL teams should not be allowed to loan players from clubs outside the division whether home or abroad.Originally posted by SimonNo7 View PostIn fact that a Premiership team should be allowed to loan any player full stop?
No loans have a lot of points. Players who need experience is only one. Sometimes teams need to reduce the wage bill for a period of time or have a player who is a disruptive influence and so teams are unwilling to gamble and buy. Broadly speaking I see no reason to specify the reasons for loans - large amounts of players are loaned in lower divisions for all sorts of reasons.Originally posted by SimonNo7 View PostShouldn’t loans be about the higher division teams loaning young/fringe players to teams in lower leagues for experience?"The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

"There is the clear statement that we want to keep Franck in Munich. I wonder if Real's negotiator Pedro Jimenez knows the game Monopoly? Bayern played it two years ago and bought Park Lane, we have built four hotels on it. We will only let it go if we are broke or in an emergency."

Sheffield United accept Kyle Naughton bid from Everton
• Clubs agree undisclosed fee for England U-21 right-back
• 'It's a good deal for the player and Sheffield United'
guardian.co.uk, Friday 10 July 2009 13.51 BST
Sheffield United have given Everton permission to open talks with Kyle Naughton after accepting an offer for the young defender.
The Blades turned down a reported £3.5m offer from Everton last month, but have now agreed to an undisclosed fee for the 20-year-old full-back, who is currently with the rest of Kevin Blackwell's first-team squad on a pre-season trip to Malta.
"We have accepted a bid for Kyle, that's correct," said the club's international chairman, Terry Robinson. "The two clubs have been negotiating this last week and we have agreed terms with Everton, but nothing has been agreed with the player.
"We won't be revealing the amount until any deal is done and our acceptance is conditional on Kyle reaching agreement with them over personal terms. It's a good deal for the player and Sheffield United. We wouldn't have agreed to it if it wasn't a good deal for the club."
Sheffield-born Naughton, who has been at Bramall Lane since he was eight, burst on to the first-team scene at the start of last season and quickly established himself as a regular in Blackwell's side.
He soon attracted the attention of several top flight clubs and won his first England Under-21 call-up – against the Czech Republic in November – after just 11 appearances for the Blades."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Sunderland seal Campbell capture Frazier Campbell
[BBC]
Striker Fraizer Campbell has completed his £3.5m move from Manchester United to Sunderland after signing a four-year contract with the Wearsiders.
The deal for the 21-year-old forward, who was also wanted by Hull manager Phil Brown, could rise to £6m.
He passed a medical on Saturday to become Steve Bruce's first signing.
Campbell had a loan spell with Hull during the 2007-08 campaign, when he scored 15 goals, and spent much of last season at Tottenham.
He made just one league start for Spurs but played a part in helping them get to the Carling Cup final, although he was ineligible to play against United in the final.
The England Under-21 international came through United's academy set up and made his debut for the first team when he came off the bench against Manchester rivals City in August 2007.
His only Premier League start for the Old Trafford club came against Newcastle at the start of last season.
Sunderland boss Bruce is expected to spend big this summer, with the promised backing of millionaire owner Ellis Short convincing him to leave Wigan to take over as boss at the Stadium of Light.
Bruce failed with a bid for Wigan midfielder Lee Catermole on Friday and has been linked with Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch and Tottenham forward Darren Bent.
With the club deciding against a move for Djibril Cisse, following the end of his loan spell, and allowing Michael Chopra to join Cardiff, the forward position was one area Bruce has been looking to strengthen."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
