Nonetheless, the league is looking like its well on the up and hopefully one day we can watch it become the second most watched live sport in the nation (over taking AFL is never going to happen).

In regards to Sydney, our wide players are quick but quite **** TBH. Mallia clearly has a lot to learn as does Petratos (who I don't really rate at all). Antonis will hopefully move to Europe soon as he needs to continue to develop. Hopefully they can all learn from the class of Del Piero, as well as the graft of Emerton, who is still one of our most important players I think.

Its a shame our defence is utterly diabolical at the moment, or else with some more time we could give the title a serious run.
And you've just signed Culina. If you can keep him fit he'll supply Del Piero

Tell me about it. I was with a young apprentice mate of mine one day driving the back streets when he made a wrong turn. We drove through a group of aboriginal lads with base ball bats & his car got hammered. He wanted to go back & settle the score outnumbered about 6-7 to 2 & they had the baseball bats not us.

Depends where you are in Redfern. Nowadays it's becoming quite gentrified.

If my memory serves me right I think it was Everleigh St or very near by. Do you know the Everleigh workshops on the left side as your approaching the Station from the west? Has that area changed much recently? I haven't been back that way in probably 15 years wow I'm getting old.

I live in the Northern Beaches, so naturally I am a SFC boy
I used to live in North Sydney so was a Northern Spirit fan while they were going. Northern Spirit and the old NSL were brillant, the A League hasn't come close. I tried SYD FC and didn't connect (probably looking for something close to the sprit). I went to the WSW first game and it was hmmm.... allright. I might follow them, Following the second oldest team in a city has done me well so far.

I know Redfern station only quite well. My wallet was liberated from me at 02:00am in the morning on my bucks night. Who woulda seen that coming huh?

Were you at Redfern when they opened Technology Park? IT start ups in the old workshops, they've kept it as original as possible so you walk through with all the massive, rusted overhead cranes and gantries and stuff. Its a fantastic place.

If you've seen any of the TED talks (ie www.ted.com) I think for the Sydney ones they are shot there.
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

No never heard of Technology park mate. Those workshops were my life for quite a few years. I'll check out the link & I'm sure it will jolt the memory.

Can you point me to the one with the workshops on show?

I used to work on the overhead cranes there. I was a maintenance fitter & I fixed anything & everything there.

They have done a really good job with the older places of Sydney, the gentrification around the docks has been especially awesome, the new mixed in with the history.

you should come down SB, I will share a beer with you as long as you are willing to share it with someone not much older than your kids

I am a bit young for the NSL and northern spirit, although I do remember playing on the pitch before a game of theirs at North Sydney Oval once!

I have heard a few people say the A-League doesn't have that connection. I would say its MUCH more commercial and Americanised and maybe the NSL was a little more pure and local?

Edit: when I say americanised I mean in regards to the commercialness of the sport etc etc.
