Was his contract running down or something? 1m seems like a ridiculous price for a young player with so much potential.

I'm still not getting the Suso being one of the next great players thing. He's ok, not fantastic, and he looked like he'd stopped developing to me. The reason we weren't getting any more for him is that clubs weren't beating a path to our door trying to sign him.Experimental music, Metropolitan foodstuffs, Mexican wrestler art, London suburbia, wry whimsy, fansy pants flim flam lad

We should have sold him after his loan to Almeria. It was clear he wasnt in our plans, though I'll have time for him and will look out for him at AC Milan.Originally posted by Venton View PostI'm still not getting the Suso being one of the next great players thing. I hope he does well for them. He's ok, just not the great talent everyone seems to think he is as far as I can see.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostWe should have sold him after his loan to Almeria. Were we not planning on keeping him but he turned down a contract?Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostWe should have sold him after his loan to Almeria. In one. Any player who does well in the reserves gets hyped to the nth degree at big clubs. Even thinking just about us, I remember the abuse managers got for not playing ones such as Pacheco, Nemeth & Spearing. Not to mention stars like Paul Anderson and people berating the club for losing Kakaniclic and the new Fowler, Lauri Dalla Valle.Originally posted by Venton View PostI hope he does well for them. How has it been handled badly exactly? We can't force him to sign a new contract, If the only way he would sign one was to get more game time then we've done the right thing as he's not getting in the team at the moment.
He's hardly had Europe's top clubs scrambling to prise him away from us. So perhaps he's not actually THAT good. Yes he has at times looked like he has a lot of potential but at this stage you'd expect him to be further along in his development but who knows why he isn't. Perhaps it's down to his attitude and commitment rather than anything the club has done wrong.
I find this mentality of immediately looking for an angle to blame the club utterly perplexing.

Everyone said this when Shelvey left too (I disagreed then too). I think he'll hopefully go on to have a good career, but I strongly believe he was never quite Liverpool standard. He lacked the general athleticism needed to succeed in the Premier League IMO. In that regard Italian football might suit him better.Originally posted by tanner View PostBig mistake this, its gonna come back and bite us on the arse
Shelvey on the other hand lacked the brains and game intelligence (and still does).
