      Djimi Traore?

I think you mean Champions League Winner Djimi Traore.

We've discussed Jamie Burt before haven't we? That's my example and we we're only about 13 at the time. Absolutely unreal. Unbelievable Trekkies!
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Yep. Incredible player at the level I saw him play. I told you about him going out with a mate of mine didn't I? She moved to Carlisle with him where he proved himself to be the biggest *******, and one of the biggest wreckheads, who ever walked the earth. Massive waste of talent.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I played alongside Lloyd Owusu years ago.

I totally agree about how good they all are. I played against the odd semi pro from time to time and they were all incredible. And they weren't good enough to get into the top couple of divisions in non-league. You only have to see how players can look like world beaters at one level and hopeless on the next step up to realise just how much better the top players are than the rest of us. I don't know if it's just a question of fine margins in ability and effectiveness being amplified in practice (like in a game of squash, where the scoring system means any noticeable difference in ability makes for a totally one-sided scoreline) or whether the best really are a thousand times better than their not-quite-as-good teammates.
Can the same be said for managers? And if so, where does that leave us when it comes to critising managers tactics etc? I bet even hodgson would wipe the floor with every single person on here in a discussion about football

I expect that's true too. That doesn't mean we know nothing and some of us might know quite a bit but I doubt any of us are experts.

That doesn't mean Hodgson was anything other than AFN.
                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I'd say anyone on here who thinks they could train and manage a team better than Hodgson is deluded. That's not to say the criticism of his footballing philosophy is not valid.

So in terms of implementing ideas and making a team successful he would be streets ahead of us, and in terms of set tactics too, but I don't think overarching football philosophy/strategy falls into the same bracket.

Well, he does have 37 years of experience over us though

I'm the same age as Jamie Burt he's from Blyth, I went to school in Bedlington, which is a town just up the road, our school used to play them every season twice obviously, he was untouchable, we played them in a cup final when we were 15/16 and they won 6-0, he scored all 6, 3 from outside the box, our keeper was a good shot stopper as well. He got mixed up in drugs and thieving to pay for it, used to nick the Newcastle training kit to sell on even. Everyone thought he would make it as a top flight player, I've no doubt he would of if he had the right people around him and didn't live in a town blighted by heroin problems. Shame really.
As for Suso, lets hope he signs a new contract cause when he starts making a name for himself clubs will come knocking

There's been little mention of a contract on offer for Suso. I'm getting a tad worried tbh

Not only that but at a whole host of top European clubs he could name if he wanted to.
