Agreed. I could stomache losing and drawing so much a lot more easily if we were playing football like that. Football is supposed to be entertainment afterall.

Anyone know if this was caught on camera

Footballer Robbie Savage was smashed full in the face by a ball at the weekend - despite being seated in a radio commentary box.

      Robbie Savage

Savage put the nosebleed down as his "most bizarre footballing injury"

The Derby midfielder was broadcasting during Aston Villa's home match with West Ham when a ball booted into the stand left him inspecting a bloodied nose.

Villa skipper Stiliyan Petrov's clearance even took the Welshman's radio headset clean off - much to the amusement of those around him.

Realising the injury was none too serious, co-commentator Darren Fletcher revelled in relaying the incident to BBC Radio 5 livelisteners.

"Fantastic! That's absolutely fantastic," he exclaimed, as Savage is heard laughing in the background.

"You see, you can say anything you like about me - as a professional he should have controlled that. It's actually knocked his headphones clean off... He'll be back with us in a minute.

The ball caught me smack on the nose, which isn't surprising considering the size of it!

Robbie Savage sniffs out the humour in the incident

"It came flying into the commentary position," Fletcher recounted, "and hit Robbie Savage square in the face... I think they call that justice. He's actually just checking his nose for blood."

"I think there is blood," replied a groggy-sounding Savage, as the pair descended into hysterics.

The Derby captain later confirmed to reporters he had not broken his nose, but did put the nosebleed down as his "most bizarre footballing injury".

"The ball caught me smack on the nose, which isn't surprising considering the size of it!" he told the Daily Star.

The 35-year-old had travelled across the Midlands to give expert analysis on Villa's Premier League match.

But the ex-Birmingham City player, and already one of English football's pantomime villains, was unlikely to receive much sympathy from the home fans.

Just watching Bacon face JR on ITV. Just imagine if in a few years time he got the Liverpool job in put us back on top. I would piss myself laughing at that! Ruining his old mans legacy.
