£8m would be abysmal. We signed him for £6m FFS! Factor in wild inflation (in football), he's more experienced now, still has 10 years left - we should be looking at a minimum of £15m. De Gea cost more than that and he was just a kid with potential, and Reina is rated ahead of him in Spain. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Where has this 'leadership' led up though? Last season we won a trophy for the first time in six years, and our league form over the past several seasons has seen us battling it out in mid-table. Do we need top 'leadership' to stave off the likes of West Brom and Swansea?Originally posted by Shaggy View PostPeps and Carra gone is a massive loss of leadership.

Buying up their players will probably help us stay above Swansea thoughOriginally posted by BootRoom View PostWhere has this 'leadership' led up though? would be a massive blow for me if reina leaves
he's a top keeper, we don't have a big budget, we need to rebuild the defence as it is (carra/coates/skrtel all look to be on their way) plus could do with a top midfielder and forward as well
adding trying to find a top keeper to the list as well
it will just be another year of transition, fighting for 6th placeLast edited by PTP; 08-05-13, 04:45 PM.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

The leadership wasn't all that evident when we were shipping stupid goals earlier this season.Originally posted by BootRoom View PostWhere has this 'leadership' led up though? I don't agree with us actively looking to change goalkeeper at the moment, but if he wants to go to Barcalona, and who could blame him, then it's probably better that we do. Not worth panicking about though.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

I wouldn't call it panicking to be concerned about the prospect.
Ok, if he wants to go then let him go. But the concern is it's not easy to get a keeper as good as he is, even if he hasn't been quite at his best at times. You can lose an outfield player and there are a few who options who can 'step up'. Replacing a first choice keeper is more risky.
James, Friedel, Westerveld, Dudek. Some of them were quite good from time to time but if they were all at their peak and in the squad now, Reina would still be first choice..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Not sure about Grobelaar.
As for the rest, I can see you like stacking the odds in your favour.

Far too much is made of leadership, especially in our current predicament. The focus should be on getting, and keeping the best players possible and worry about leadership later. Leadership can come in handy when challenging at the highest level and can make a difference in some situations - and those small interventions can mean the difference between success and failure, but we need top players to get us in a position where leadership skills could be relevant.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostThe leadership wasn't all that evident when we were shipping stupid goals earlier this season.
