That may or may not be true, i'd propbably say that it isnt, but if we did play any of that list at their peaks now I doubt we'd be in a worse position in the league. It may be more risky to replace a keeper, but we seem to have managed to do it repeatedly without dire consequences. Same for most top clubs.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

The loan arranger strikes again.

Just random and baseless criticism of Ayre.

Wow, I can't believe anyone can (a) think Reina hasn't been better than all four of his immediate predecessors and (b) that it wasn't a massive relief when we finally got a top class keeper.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostThat may or may not be true, i'd propbably say that it isnt, but if we did play any of that list at their peaks now I doubt we'd be in a worse position in the league. As for other top clubs:
Arsenal - no one good since Seaman.
Man United - no one as good as Schmeichel. Ok, so he was a great keeper but I'd rather have Reina than any of his successors.
Chelsea - Cech was a really good buy. So yeah, maybe it is quite easy. Except I wonder why they've wanted to keep him for nine years despite a couple of consecutive seasons where he really wasn't very good and even now is not back to the level he had in his first two or three seasons..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

a) misrepresenting the discussion, good one. (you initially talked of 'now' and have switched to 'hasn't been'.
b) so you are in agreement then? As long as teams have decent goalkeepers then they don't really lose out much by losing their best.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

F*cking hell, calm down Kennel, I wasn't misrepresenting anything. I think I've made the point in both posts that he's a good keeper despite his less than brilliant form over the last two years. I realise you don't agree, but that's exactly why I mentioned Cech's poor form, compared to his brilliance when he first joined.
And no, I don't agree. Otherwise I wouldn't be disputing with you..

Ok then. The wow bit was just a random exclamation and wasn't intended to represent surprise at my post.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostF*cking hell, calm down Kennel, I wasn't misrepresenting anything. And why do you say that you know I don't think Reina is a good keeper?
Incidentally, I didn't actually equate concern with him leaving with panicking either.
But do carry on.Last edited by Kenneth; 08-05-13, 11:22 PM.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

That figure is from the rumours coming out of Barcelona; the Echo is saying we've yet to hear or receive anything.Last edited by Muddled; 09-05-13, 07:36 AM.
