I would guess Rafa saw an opportunity to work with Reina again and jumped in. I'm sure it will work out well for all in the long term.
Possibly, but you’d expect the club to have some sort of dialogue with the player to give him some say in his future. I’m sure there are plenty of transfers that are accepted without the club informing the player but obviously Pepe feels the club could have discussed it with him before accepting the deal and the departure could have been amicable.

It all seems quite trivial TBH, but it’s disappointing to see him leave on bad terms especially when it appears it could have been easily avoided.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Nobody died, he'll be fondly remembered by all I'm sure.
      to you both.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Of course he had a say. They can't force a player to accept the loan. It would have been discussed and he accepted.

That’s the point, he probably would have accepted regardless, but for whatever reason he’s upset that the club didn’t inform him before accepting the bid. Rightly or wrongly, he feels he should have been told before the bid was accepted.

            Why?

He could turn down the loan offer, he is not obliged to take it. Why would we ask him about it first?

As for showing a player loyalaly, if the manager has other plans, that is all that matters.

I don't get where you're coming from. If the issue is agreeing terms of a loan before asking pepe if he would go or not then it does seem very trivial. But pepe held all of the cards, he doesn't have to agree to go out on loan.

It could even be counter productive to discuss things with the player before clubs agree anything as it could set false expectations and cause more ill feeling. If we had dangled the carrot of a loan to rafa's Napoli and then couldn't agree a fee/wage deal then he'd be pissed and Arn people would be calling Ayre a cunt for blocking a reunion with the messiah etc.

It's not where 'I'm' coming from, it's what Pepe says in his letter. I said it seems very trivial and I don't know how transfers are supposed to work, but obviously Pepe feels the club should have acted differently, even if it was only out of courtesy to let him know about the bid.

                      Phew.

I don't normally get hangovers, but todays is the closest I've came to one in a long time.

Fine, but then they should stop trotting out the loyalaly card in relation to players like Suarez. It's the hypocrassy which annoys me.
                        Oh I don't know.

It's the nature of the beast though, rightly or wrongly all football teams play that card.

Yeah but maybe we wouldn't have been looking to offload him if he wasn't sucking up to Barca big time? Just a thought.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
