There did used to be, but it was changed to the quarter finals.

Another spiffing decision from the bods at Uefa.

      "spiffing"

      They're a joke aren't they.

Two Lyon players did this before and they got fined something like ten thousand euros. Oh I bet they lost sleep over that. Like fining me 50p.

To be fair, you could probably rent a bedsit for 50p, where you live.

If those footballers earned 60k a week that would mean you earn 3 pounds a week. No wonder why you post on here so much.

There should be no card amnesty at all. The cards should stand the whole competition the difference being that you get a two match ban if you are suspended a second time and three game ban if you are suspended a third time and so on.

I doubt that this would have happened if the players risked a two or three game ban if they pick up more cards later in the competition.

That would probably make this situation worse. More chance of getting bans for bookings So more likely to deliberately get banned for easy or meaningless games.

That is a bit over the top I think mate. Yellow cards have become part and parcel of football. If they did that then half the players from each team would probably miss the Semis, which would make for ****ter tv viewing and ultimately less revenue for Uefa.

How would this solve the problem? Madrid players would still deliberately get themselves sent off so they miss the (meaningless) last group game.

I'm sure it would have still happened.

The only time you could play two meaningless games in a row is if you already qualified for the group stages after four games.

Would be very difficult for a player to pick up enough bookings before the fifth game in the competition so he would take a booking in the fourth game so he would miss the fifth and sixth game and if he did that then he would risk to miss three games later in the competition.

I think there should be an amnesty after the groups and after the semis. And/or remove a yellow from your tally for each game/or two that you dont get booked. Players missing semi's for an accumulation of yellows which you can get for farting in the wrong tone spoils cup competitions IMO opinion.

I'd go with no amnesty, but no ban for yellows only until a player had half a dozen.
