Slagging off one of our own players who's not yet been really fit and has played about 6 games.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostWow 40 pages of Liverpool fans slagging one of our own players.
Cant a mod close this thread?? It's ****ing pointless and not achieving anything productive or enlightening at all
If he'd had a full season and been gross then fair enough but to slate Carroll based on the fact that we paid big money for him instead of other players, who probably have no intention of joining us, is a joke.A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Thats a very black / white way of looking at what I've written, I'd say there are some shades of grey there. The first couple of posts there were before he'd even played for us and another was making a direct comparison with one of the major flaws in Torres's time at Liverpool - his inability to cope with physicality.Originally posted by Chrono View PostThe good
The bad
Why not just wait and see instead of leaping from one conclusion to another? You've gone from being excited and seeing potential to writing him off and mocking the signing after a handful of games where he wasn't match fit. He might turn out to be dog **** but let's wait and see
The other "bad" posts were in relation to bringing him in after we had stuffed Fulham playing the best football we had played that season without him. We were beaten and played badly, the whole dynamic of the team had shifted form quick, pacey interplay to a complete lack of dynamism and long ball hoofs to the big man. I hate that style of play.
Its difficult not to err negatively about the signing, both from the type of football we've defaulted to when he's been in, the injury problems and the ludicrous fee for an unproven player, but I'm honestly trying not to be.

Ashton was a player with great potential until injury cut him short. Carroll isaplayer withgreat potential who was injured when he came.
Injury wise he's along way off being similar to Dean Ashton. Unless someone has a made up rumour they can send my way I fail to see the arguments.
Did we over pay for Carroll? Yes. He may prove to bf worth the fee but IMO still over paid regardless. £35m is money you spend when someone is already top class and on the way to becoming world class. He is after all in the top ten most expensive signings in football history.Forwards.......

Aye, and we then took him out of the team for the Villa match where we proceeded to be as utterly crap without him as we were with him against Spain.
I constantly worry about the latent knackerism in Carroll busting out but I'm convinced he's going to be an absolute superstar when fit. My toon supporting mates often describe him as unplayable for opposing teams when he's fit.A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.
