Fair enough, but according to JH that was to do with what Newcastle wanted for AC, if they'd have asked 20mill for AC, we'd have sold Torres for 35mill, iirc.

Too be honest, thats a good way of doing business in that situation. Carroll is worth £15m less than Torres. Fair assessment.

Don't agree. But I'm sure this has been covered on each of the previous 73 pages.

Now maybe, but back then ? Ok Torres was on a bad run of form, which was all put down to him wanting out, so it's fair to say any buying club would think he'd return to similar form to what he had with us when flying, but AC at 37/35mill or whatever it was, seemed an extremely inflated valuation at that time in comparison. imo.

Torres was not on a bad run, he was past his peak, we had his best years then sold him for £50m. We paid too much for Carroll, but he still may prove to be a valuable player yet. Buying a worldclass player entering his peak for £22m was a stroke of genius.

But, we'd have kept him if we could, and the club did it's untmost to do just that and persuade him to stay. imo.

Genius my arse, lets not turn this into something it was most definately not, which was'nt lfc realising he was **** and moving him on for mega bucks, HE wanted out, we wanted him to stay.

                  JWH explains the deal.

Are you now questioning the owners of the club?
This is something I have no problems doing.
Even if JWH says something doesn`t mean it`s 100% true.
He is a business man, and part of that is saying what the costumers (us) wants to hear.
I don`t think we played the Carrol game well, we paid over the top for him.

I agree, hadn't really thought about it but I agree. Carroll is a bit wasted if he is not the top striker, he should think about being in the penalty area most of the time, IMO. Suarez should do the running and Downing will have a dangerous target. Do you think they are playing this way now for Carroll to flick the ball on? Instead of being a pure goal threat.
                    * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I honestly have no idea. It could be that, it could be an effort to develop Carroll into a more rounded player. Alternatively it could just be the belief that Suarez is best as the most central attacker and we should try to get the most out of our best player (I think John Doe is of this opinion).

I don't think it would necessarily be a problem with a different setup of players (even 4-4-2 with two 'genuine' wingers) but at the minute I tend to think that all three of the main areas of the team make it harder rather than easier for one another to excel. The DMs are too close to the defense and don't break, we don't have enough targets in the box for Downing, Carroll is coming deep which both breaks continuity of passing and loses us a target up top, ......
