Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

We all cheered Sean Dundee on but he was also ****. No contradiction in acknowledging it.
Andy Carroll has been fairly **** but I still think he'll come good. Maybe not £35mil good but still a very good player. He was a player I wished we had when I saw him playing for NFC but never thought we'd get due to the fee with him being English and expected him to end up at ManU, CFC, City etc. Having said that it took years for me to finally accept that Biscan and Smicer were not going to be world beaters.
Downing is a player i've never thought was up to it and a big time choker. Having spent £20mil on him I have convinced myself that 30 or so of our 38 league games a season are against mediocre opposition in exactly the arean Downing plays well. It is also the area we have traditionally let ourselves don in so have convinced myself he'll be worth it and to be fair to the lad he has done a decent job on the left and could easily have 3 or 4 goals and 5 assists to his name already with the rub of the green."that is my opinion and that is more important than what anyone else has to say about it" - Mr A.Fergusson, Oct 2011

Just joined this board and have to say that there is some decent banter on here.
Was interested to see what peoples opinion of Carroll and the £35m fee were, and was going to ask the question but then I found this thread. Can't really be faffed to read 70 odd pages, but read the first couple and the last couple and its quite interesting to see how peoples opinions seem to have shifted from one of elation at his signing back in Jan, to one of disappointment.
I was gutted when he left, and even more gutted when we didn't bring anyone else in to replace him. We certainly missed him in the 2nd half of last season, and it was quite interesting to see how anonymous Barton and Nolan became after he left. We still kept playing the way we had been which didn't really work.
I still have a sneaky feeling he will end up back at his hometown club eventually. I don't think he's had the start he would have been expecting at LFC, whether he is still trying to get his fitness back or what I don't know.
Gutted Enrique went as well, he is top quality.
Keep yer mitts off Colo. You can have him for £35m...lol !Jemaine: Are you and Lisa gonna get married now? Bret: I wish, but I don't know. She's got to go to war. Jemaine: What? Bret: Yeah, Iraq. Jemaine: Iraq? Bret:Yeah. Jemaine: Lisa? Bret: She's in Delta Force. She's been deployed to Fallujah. Jemaine: But she works in the croissant shop. Bret: Yeah well, she's got two jobs. She's a pastry chef and a sniper.

Think he's here for the long haul tbh. Also think he'll come good under the long term guidance of Kenny.Originally posted by cronemeister View PostJust joined this board and have to say that there is some decent banter on here.
