He actually played a couple of really good balls in the first half

It surprised me because its not something we've seen from him so far

I didn't think he was anywhere near as bad yesterday as he has been, he was nowhere near being the worst player we fielded. Unfortunately for me, the enduring image is of him swinging for a shot, face to goal, and the ball inexplicably ending up going towards our goal. Hapless.

Is it too late for him to master the basics of technique; running with the ball, controlling a pass etc?

Kuyt and Carroll are the worst players I've seen running with the ball in space. It's excruciatingly frustrating watching professional footballers that haven't mastered the rudiments of the game.

My biggest issue is that we have signed an incredibly limited footballer to lead our attack. He seems to only offer one style of play, is completely reliant on others feeding him and doesn't seem to be able to fashion anything for himself.

Most attackers at the best teams are athletes with skill and quick feet. They combine a lot of attributes. Andy Carroll is a battering ram with no fight in him just now.

He has to pass backwards though as he's usually the furthest man forward, and it's not often that people run past him. I'm not sure what point you are making here.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He might be the furthest man forward but he's not forward enough IMO, I respect the fact that he wants to get hold of the ball but he has to take into account his lack of speed in reaching the box, some people have to wait just for our main attacker to get into the area

We signed him for 5 seasons, not 1.

I've been in the past a bug advocate of giving players time to come good. I stuck by Babel when almost no one else did. But with Ryan he did at least have a couple of games when he showed promise and led me to beleive he did have a future. But although I have defended Carroll to my mates when they take the piss I'm starting to lose patience. He was utter garbage yesterday. He lost 2 headed challenges to reo-Coker FFS! He fell over when running cause he runs like a disabled gazelle! And his attemt at a shot from a maxi cutback was a disgrace. I actually hope we cut our losses on him now and try to get a replacement in before the end.January.

someone mentioned that ac spends quite a bit of time boozin in the circo bar. hes just not putting the effort in.

we cannot continue to "give him more time" cos he is just dragging us down to levels of previously unknown despair. no ****er would give us any serious money for him, but maybe just getting shut would lift morale. he might just become a high profile loan player for a championship team, but i would be happy to drop him off at the station tomorrow. enough, already

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

buy another forward and get him out of the spotlight and let him relax and try and work on his game. that's what i'd do.

look at a player like mario gomez. was out of the picture last year aftre being a huge waste of money. suddenly he's come good.
