If you spell 'Matt' with 2 't's in 'Mattshark' then it's Matthew. The extra 't' isnt there because you're adding 'tshark' to it

Bloody hell Craig, stop using facts. They have no place in a discussion on the football forum.

Hmm. No, the opposite is possibly more likely.

Exactly right, Carroll hasn't been great but he can only score goals when he is playing so his goals per game ratio which is what everyone used to be judged by now becomes goals per minute.
It's the same for everyone, not just Carroll with football becoming more about rotation and squads not just the same XI week in week out and with stats playing a bigger part of football and the media everyhting is rightly broken down further.

You can argue that he has appeared in 25 games therefore has had 25 seperate games to score in but some of those he played 70 minutes, some 6, some 90 etc.....
The amount of time on the pitch varies so working it out by minutes is the only fair way.
Same for every single player at any club

I think, and i may be wrong as I dont have the same access to Kenny as you do judging by your posts on the Dalglish thread, however I think Kenny was saying that in response to the tribe of mentals who were up in arms when Carroll didnt break Ian Rush's scoring record within three games of joining us

Ian Rush by the way was a striker who played for us in the 1980's.

Andy needs a run of 35/40 games before we see the best of him.

Is that another fact or just a guess?

What does he need to come good in your opinion ?

Agree it's more accurate, but it's not the measure used, so when it's suggested that he's scored 4 in 13 and that's not bad, it is comparing people's understanding of a decent goals to game ratio based on goals/game involved in with a different measure for Carroll, hence the PR accusation. No issue with using it as a measure, but inferring a positive comparison is either a mistake, or itself the result of an agenda.

Anyway, I thought this was obvious and didn't want to make a big deal of it
