    Jaysus.....you lads are a bit picky !

I would have taken 7-8m in the January window without hesitation, just to get shot of a limited player that the manager has no interest in.
Not great business, but that's par for the course with this signing.

I doubt that the club would accept an offer below £15m because it would make us look like idiots selling a player below £15m we paid £35m for a couple of years ago.

We would be laughed at forever.

        Yes BUT...

I think his salary is something like £5m a year. Assuming we would have accepted £17m for him at the start of the season, we could let him go for £12m this summer and we still would have got/lost the same amount on him as West Ham are paying all of his wages

If that was the only deal on the table then we'd have to accept.

Yep. If you factor in wages, that would be £10m earned/saved.

I seriously doubt we'll be getting anything close to 15m (which was more or less Carroll's original value in the real world back then), so the club is gonna have to suck it up and take it up the arse from the severely limited amount of clubs that would want to do business with us regarding Carroll.

If we're not prepared to accept the complete an utter failure that this signing was and cut our losses, Carroll is gonna be thrown out on loan again just to relieve the wage bill.
As for being laughed at ?....There's no way we're gonna be coming out of this happy, or without looking like complete idiots, but if the failure to move Carroll on results in Brendan not being able to bring in someone he values, then we're shooting ourselves in the foot yet again.

if we can get 8-10m and not have to pay up any of his outstanding contract then that'd be great.

but i can see us getting 8-10m, and then giving half back to carroll to pay off the rest of his contract, or he will just sit on his arse and suck 80k out of us every ****ing week

is there anyone in charge that we can speak to

Carrols real value has never been over £10m.

Throw in the English tag, and the fact he was being 'talked about' should have put his valuation around 15m IMO. Talked about on his way up the Newcastle ranks, came into the side looking a bit of a bruiser, top scorer for them in the Championship, scored a few more on promotion.
I'm not saying for one minute he'd have even proved great value at that or even worth it, but its comparable to other transfers of the ilk.

An extremely limited footballer with a massive price tag (through no fault of his own - who to blame has been talked to death at this point), who is now not even excelling at neanderthal football levels.

An extremely costly mistake, which needs to be rectified immediately .

I think we're looking to send him back to Newcastle and rather than allow us to be *seen* to be bent over on the price, we'll take one of their players in exchange. Now, it wouldn't be my choice, but I think we'll see Ben Arfa coming and Carroll going.

Whether any cash will swap hands, I dunno ... but I hope not.

But if all we get offered is say £10m, if we reject that and hang on to him, keep him on the bench, or loan him out a year later we won't even get that, we should try and get as much as possible, but in reality we need to get rid of him this year and re-invest the money in the squad.

As for any embarrassment that shouldn't prevent us making the right decision, should it be an issue we could leave the fee undisclosed.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think that was guaranteed the day we bought him. Every club has its Transfer **** ups, We just seem to have had more than most in the last few years.

I think we will accept whatever is on offer this Summer, Just to get rid and move on, Personally i think that will be around the 10m mark, Which to be honest is still above his market value imo.

See Everton and Bilyadetinov to prove that case no-one has even mentioned the 10m+ on him, bet they didn't even get half back.

It was a major ****-up from day one and nothing changed thus far.

It is unfortunate that we couldn't structured the deal with WHU for a guaranteed buyout at the end of the season but it is what it is.

At this point it's all about damage control and if swapping him with Ben Arfa is the best we can orchestrate so be it.

His value, given his current form, will continue to drop and the fact that we are desparately trying to offload him is not helping our case either.
