one thing i dont agree with is loaning players out we have done it with Aquilani, Cole, Diao etc and we dont ever benefit from this, we agree a pre-loan fee with the clubs then come the end of the loan deal the clubs always try and shaft us, we need to either keep carroll or cut our losses and let him go on only a permanent deal too many clubs have made mugs out of us in the past in the loan market.

I guess we benefit by getting them off the wage bill for the season. If they are really just going to sit around doing nothing its better to have them playing, possibly impressing potential buyers and keeping their value up, while saving us significant money.Originally posted by Kirkbyite View Postone thing i dont agree with is loaning players out we have done it with Aquilani, Cole, Diao etc and we dont ever benefit from this, we agree a pre-loan fee with the clubs then come the end of the loan deal the clubs always try and shaft us, we need to either keep carroll or cut our losses and let him go on only a permanent deal too many clubs have made mugs out of us in the past in the loan market.
Agree that in practice it hasn't always really worked out, the Carroll loan I think made sense (or would have if we hadn't cocked up getting Sturridge in in August) as he should and could have done well as West Ham and maintained far more of his value. No way should we do anything else other than sell him this summer though.
Aquilani was just a joke transfer from the very start
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Ok plan C then.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostBecause he is one dimensional, and he isn't very good at that dimension either. He doesn't even meet the basic standard of what we need from any player, like passing and control.
Also, teams who sit deep are very comfortable dealing with this type of "plan b".Was muß, das muß.

For a tall guy who's supposedly a good header of the ball - he sure hates getting in the box and attacking crosses. The number of times he has the ball outside the box, plays it wide and then just stands there rather than busting a gut to get to a post and look for a header or flick-on.
I'm sure he's a nice guy but, in footballing terms, he's brainless.

Really? 110 games with 27 goals and 31 assists. Not quite as good as his record with Milan and brazil, but decent all the same for someone who mostly plays in mf, and significantly better than Carroll's. Without injuries I'm sure Kaka would have featured far more.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostThere's Kaka at Real Madrid too to consider.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

This is my "LFC's worse transfer of all time" the only conclusion I can come up with is that the boardroom and Kenny were smoking some serious hydro during negotiations. 35 million pounds, oh my days, that 35 million could have made the difference between fourth place or where we are now. It's sad.

They were so desperate for Torres I think we could have made that deal, or even £35m plus Sturridge. I think he was at Bolton at the time?Originally posted by barnes10 View Postplease tell me that was never actually offered to us
One of the worst transfers in our history and set us back hugely.
