Because no one wanted them. Additionally, they both offer more than Carroll imo.

OK, I agree to a large extent with that. I think the £35m fee just makes him seem a lot worse than maybe he was.

So apparently West Ham won't go for Carroll, although it's maybe a tad early to make that decisison. Is there any room at all for him as plan b or should we offload him at the earliest opportunity.

Deffo - best case for us was West Ham and Newcastle both wanted him to keep the price up but if there's only one club interested, we just need to accept anything.

As Rodgers has said - he's not bothered about money received for a player versus what we paid for him as that was all before him - if we make £10M from Carroll it's £10M for him to spend on someone not ****.

Yeah, Brendan is right on that, this is value for his team, the past is the past. How about offering Newcastle, Carroll plus cash for Cabaye, Ben Arfa or Sissoko? Anyone of them would be good for the squad really.

They're not gonna let Sissoko go so soon and I couldn't see them letting go of Cabaye easily... plus not convinced he'd get in our team at the moment with Lucas and Gerrard doing such a good job as the "2" in midfield.
