Especially considering Torres would probably have ended up being **** for us and not worth a lot either. If he leaves I will be very interested to see how much he goes for, because he probably wouldn't have moved on for much different if he was still here.

I think we lost a lot of money on Carroll but we were still better off selling torres, buying carroll and selling carroll then selling torres for whatever we would have ended up getting for him. At least we have tried a player in this situation and can move on.

    Positive spin

PM me your address and I'll pop around. I might give you a quick refresher on treatment of goodwill before I put you out of your misery.

Its still 5m more than he's worth but what a load of cobblers.
Yeah, but what's Torres worth currently? About the same? So we're £15m up overall.

Kenneth's right - the cash flow and profit impact are entirely separate. I would point out that it's amortisation, which is on intangible assets such a licences and goodwill, and, in the case of football, player contracts, and not depreciation, which is on tangible assets such as fixtures and fittings.

    15m !!!!

    Take it !!

I'd even give them back their hand after we'd bitten it off.

    I really hope so.

I'm always one to give a player time, even if they've not done well straight away, but I just couldn't ever see AC fitting in at Liverpool. That was compounded when BR came in with his philosophy.

It seems like that if the reports are true and we have agreed to sell him, we've more than got away lightly.
