I honestly feel Carroll hinders our style off play (one touch pass and move football) What gets me is we play so well the past few games without Carroll, yet the minute he comes back in the side our performance drop and then people make excuses for him. Remind me how long King's been out yet he put in an immense performance. For me Carroll has always lacked mobility. Personally I think if you want to get the very best out of him switch to a 4-4-2 with proper wingers and he'd perform better. He is clearly an old fashioned centre forward who thrives so much off service from the wings. However, play him in a system which relies on one touch passing, slick movement and good interchanging from our forwards then his lack of mobility, movement and technique is exposed.imo.

It's my fear too. I never really fancied him at Newcastle but far better judges than me reckon he's a beast in the making so for now I'll defer to them and continue being patient. There's every chance he'll be flying next season and it's far too early to start saying he hinders our play...although I understand the sentiment entirely.
He hasn't even been that bad, and he's clearly not fit. Everyone should reserve judgement.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
I think we need to get him fit and get players around him that suit his game, at the moment I don't feel he fits our current system. Like with Crouch his height encourages us to launch balls up to him. When we didn't have that option (when he was out) we played a better game. We need to Adapt our system so that we can play the one and two touch pass and move game, we were playing while he was out with some additional player who will also gel with Carroll.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
Keep the faith people. Carroll has shown me more than enough in that City game alone to remain excited about what he has to offer. Hopefully a full pre-season under his belt and he will fulfill his early promise.

He shouldn't have started or his ponytailed ass should have been hauled off way before the 87th minute, he was a total waster (and has been for the majority of his games for us).
I'm very unconvinced with him, hope he succeeds BUT i have horrible feeling we'll be selling him back to the barcodes with a huge loss in a couple of seasons.
I really hope for Andy and the clubs sake that supporters don't start jumping on his back for a sluggish start to his career. The price tag was very high but he hasn't had the chance to get going yet. He has been injured a lot and we have yet to bring in more creativity on the wings.
Next season we could see him blossom and Andy should not be slated by fans this early. Everybody deserves a chance to settle and the pressure on his shoulders is high enough already without us making it worse.

Should never have started today, clearly not fit and the team has been on fire, scoring goals aplenty without him. No need to change that. He upset the balance of the side completely and was virtually devoid of threat. Even in the air, Dawson and King owned him.
I'm sure he'll come good and after a while, it'll be much better. But for today, his inclusion was a mistake.

Tend to agree with others that he shouldn't have started today though.

To be fair, Crouchy took ages to start scoring, but because he was contributing to the team, he was given a lot of patience and support. As long as he is working hard and making a positive contribution, he will be fine.
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.
Just as a guideline tell me who you have played instead?
I would have left the successful Kuyt/Suarez partnership intact and started Shelvey in midfield (the extra body would have helped as the midfield was so badly dominated by Spurs).

Absolutely. Whatever we got from him this season was aways considered only gravy. He was injured for extended period of time and we just don't have support in place yet to bring the best out of him.
Sure he looked slow and sluggish yesterday but he is not to be blamed for our loss. He did what he could, given the circumstances, and it is definitely premature to judge him properly at this moment.
Let's wait until next season to see what Andy really brings to our club..
