We paid 20m euros in installments.

Somehow I don't think the bonuses (aside from a sell on fee) are going to be a problem

We may have ended up paying quite a bit to Roma, but it was delayed until later dates - we didnt have to spend much (if anything) to get him in that summer.

Our lack of money that summer meant we had to get somebody on a buy-now-pay-later scheme

Thats how it generally works though, we wont have got all the Mascherano money from Barca yet etc.

We paid something like €4m for Aquilani the summer we signed him. We paid the rest later on in instalments.

We had to pay the interest on the loan, around £30m IIRC, so we had to do it that way.

AEK Athen had an agreement loan with an option to buy.

Roma was totally skint and couldn't even pay the wages to the players a short period of time at that time.

We still paid €20m for him - how much do you think Roma owed us for Riise?

The way you phrased it, we HAD to buy him to get the value back on what they owed us. What they owed us was nowhere remotely near €20m and Aquilani was worth nowhere near €20m either.

We clearly only had around €4m to sign a Xabi replacement. That means that we had to get a deal with a club structured in a way that we only had to pay very little the first two instalments.

Roma was skint. As I said. They couldn't even pay wages for a while. A couple of million euros was money they didn't had. Ask the players that didn't get paid. Ask the banks that didn't get their money.

Gillett and Hicks tried to sell the club and clearly hoped that a new owner would pay most of the money for Aquilani.

So in order to recoup the value of £2m, we agreed to spend €20m.

                          Good idea.

Spurs 10m for Lassana. Great signing that. Really rate him.

Mata move 2 Chelsea closer. It's a matter of hours. Clubs agreed fee, personal terms agreed too. He's very much looking 4ward to it
                                We come not to play.
