We were interested in Downing around the time we signed Riera, IIRC the Downing fee was ~£12m did we decide that Downing wasn't worth that or did we not have the extra £3-4m to get Downing instead of Riera?

He knew how good Silva was and only the fact that we were so skint prevented him from getting him.

One of most disappointing things for me in last 3,4 years that we failed to sign him..
