McClean for £350k looks quite the bargain missed too.

they been hyping this lad up for a while now in the north east.. He looks the real deal.

they have quite a few quality youngsters Meyler is another one who looks class.

Perhaps Kenny and DC thought Ox was unproven at the top level. Downing on the other hand was premiership proven and his stats last season were fairly impressive. I think the rationale behind signing the likes of Downing and Adam was that they would hit the ground running and would need no time to adapt which would result in a good start to the season for us.

ox had the choice & his dad chose Arse; location, wenger reputation, opportunity all came in to it. tbh i would have been amazed if he had even made the bnech for Liverpool this year, due to the clubs inbuilt reluctance to trust youngsters

He's already in contention for that, if he continues his current form he could be arguably our worst ever which is saying something with the likes of Diouf, Keane, Paul Stewart, Aquilani and dare I say it Carroll all laying a claim. We've signed much worse players than Downing but it's the 20 million price tag that really puts him up there.
