I can't take this seriously. He's been ****e in almost every game. Particularly last week against Norwich. Just because he played on the right doesn't make a difference. If he's on the pitch and he's playing badly, it's still him.

Mark Gonzalez wasn't great for us, but a mile ahead of Downing when it comes to him as a player. He has pace, can beat his man and has a knack for goals. 3 qualities that Downing can only dream of. End of the day though, they're both mid-table players.

Downing hasnt exploded into life yet, but he provides something which we dont have otherwise and no, Maxi and Bellamy arent natural wingers, nor left sided, so wouldnt give us the same.
Well we don't know for sure whether he is an impact player as we've hardly seen him used there. His best attributes are his energy and his engine, IMO not bad attributes to have coming off the bench late in a game. And his best performance in a LFC shirt for me was when he came on against United.

Downing for me, it's all about mentality. He has ability but isn't showing it as yet. Bellamy and Maxi aren't natural wingers, neither is Henderson but Maxi scored 10 goals last season, and Bellamy 10 goals and 10 assists with Man City playing mostly from left. Kuyt isn't a natural winger but has scored a hell of alot of goals for the wide areas.

Winger or no winger, for me it's all about production. Who will produce the most from these positions. And Hendo and Downing hopefully will start doing that.

What if Kenny wants one of the wide players to be a natural winger?

If that was the case, why does he play on the right so often?

Playing on the right is still playing on the wing, is it not?

But he's not really giving the "natural winger" effect because he's cutting in with his left foot all of the time. Which therefore defeats the purpose of having a winger on the park.

You're making out he's been poor in what I gather as the majority of the games. If you can see that then Kenny would see that. Also if we have players on the books that can do a better job for Liverpool, you can be sure Kenny would be playing them. Liverpool always come first with him, always.
That is a rather weak argument to say the least.

I think it's very obvious that Hendo isn't a natural winger.

Is a natural winger not meant to get down the line a get balls into the box? Hendo doesn't do that and cut it's in or plays the ball backwards. Forgetting the term winger/wide men etc i have no doubts Kenny & Comollo bought Hendo to be more than just a workhorse/do a job type.

It's not even an argument. I'm simply asking why you think Kenny can't see Downing has been poor nearly every game.

Can't get a handle with you at all. You seem like a clued up guy and you're not the "Downing is ****, Henderson is ****" poster by any means. Those I can ignore cause they're knobheads with agendas.

Just don't get why you stubbornly refuse to give a few players any credit at all, no matter what they do.

downing is a strange one. even when he has obviously been pants in a match, like today, he still manages to hit the woodwork or put in a cross or two that beat the first man and also don't drift right over everybody and wind up in row a. his numbers would look a lot better if our forwards hadn't fluffed some chances, and a few goal keepers have made impressive stops from people trying to finish his crosses as well.

take today for example. looked terrible all day, over hit his crosses, and still hit the woodwork. looked bad against the scum, but still managed to forge enough chances late on that we probably should have won the match. it hasn't quite materialized, but he remains a fairly dangerous player even when he looks bobbins.

I give players credit when the play well, you failing to notice that is simply your problem.

Time to take him out of the side. 0 goals, 0 assists and it's practically November. Nowhere near good enough.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
