What is it with this club and left backs
Aurelio, Insua, Konchesky, Enrique , Cissokho, bloody hell, Glen Johnson is the best LB we've had in god knows how long.

We should have spent the 10m on Siqueira during the summer but instead we went for the cheap option in Aly, a real shame which we're paying for now.

Losing Enrique is a big loss for the team, he has had a good start to the year imo and we lose something when he isn't there.

at the beginning of the season i didn't think full back was a priority for us

i felt we were one attacking player and one top midfielder short - maybe a back up keeper as well,.

all of a sudden tho we are desperate for a solid/consistent full back

a steve finnan or arbeloa type player would do us a world of good - someone who is consistent, reliable and stays fit without costing the earth

one of them and then a top full back would be good

Enrique isn't perfect, defensive positioning isn't his strong suit & he is very slow to release the ball both defensively & offensively.. which can break down moves. But he is competent & one v one he is extremely difficult to beat. It's his mental side of the game that lets him down sometimes but he is our best option at the moment at LB by some stretch.

And yup Cissohko is horrendous.

madness - back in the summer i thought full back was our strongest position

Right back
First choice - Johnson, top class right back - but does have injury issues
2nd choice - Kelly, young/up and coming and looked good - but has injury issues
3rd choice - Wisdom, young very promising, clearly a centre back, but had no issues with him getting game time/experience at right back
4th choice - Flanagan - didn't look like hed get a kick and was surprised he stayed


Left back
1st choice - Enrique - can be a bit inconsitent but if played regularly would be enough
2nd choice - cissokho - we needed experienced cover/competition and on paper looked a great signing
3rd choice - Robinson, showed early promise, not as good as enrique/cissokho so send on loan to get game time, because if needed we'd also have Sakho/Agger



All of a sudden we've got

Johnson - blowing hot and cold and still worried about his injury record
Cissokho - doesn't look good enough
Flanagan - ok great game against the derby but is he of the standard we need for regular full back


kelly - looks crocked, enrique is crocked, wisdom/robinson out on loan
